I've been living here going on four years now. Melrose place Apartments, that is, located in the heart of Orange Mound. Everyone states that Orange Mound is a bad area, maybe so but this apartments are not bad at all. Its a gated community, well for a couple of months now the gate has remained open, and is monitored 24/7. They actually record. I haven't had any problems of any kind with my apartment or any residents/visitors. I do hate that parking is limited, I have to walk in the grass up/ ...
down a hill to get to my apartment. During the winter I fell on the ice and snow. My first year rent was awesome 545.00 a month, my third year 575.00 a month. I hope they don't go up any more because for that area, with the gate being consistently open and people consistently moving in and out, its starting now to be worth it. I think there should be another dumpster on the property for trash.I think at times its just to much trash on the ground versus in the dumpster. Its a small complex, there are a nice amount of kids, and overall I will say that I will stay another year if the rent doesn't go up.
