About National Biscuit Flats
Be a part of a neighborhood where you live, work and play. Bike to Gray’s Lake, the Capitol complex, Gateway West Park, or the River Walk. Walk to Des Moines finest restaurants and bars to meet friends, sleep late the next morning and walk to work. The National Biscuit Company building was erected in 1906. The Des Moines branch of National Biscuit Company was the largest bakery in Iowa at the time. Everyone today knows this company as - Nabisco. The building is of Masonry and heavy timber construction and was converted to 54 affordable single resident housing units in 1995. In 2008, the building underwent a significant remodeling. The building retains its historic character. Wood ceilings and beams, and the perimeter brick wall, remain exposed and appear virtually new. While the individual units are small, they are cozy and comfortable. The ceilings soar 11 to 15 feet and the windows are large, flooding the interior with light.

July 22, 2015I love my apartment! Exposed brick walls, large windows. Gorgeous wood floors, black granite counters in the very small kitchen to add to the overall charm of the apartment. Secure building and great location! A short walk to restaurants and bars and the bike trail is across the street. My only complaint is that I do not have an oven.Review from Apartments.com
