DONT LIVE HERE
April 27, 2025Living at Nine East has been one of the worst experiences I've ever had. The building maintenance is absolutely terrible: during the winter, the heating was so weak that I was freezing inside my own apartment. The hot water was completely unreliable — it would randomly switch between scalding and freezing. The elevators were constantly broken, and after eight months, they still hadn't been properly fixed. Same with the AC — it was out for eight months as well, with management repeatedly using ...the excuse that they were "waiting on parts." The internet was also extremely unreliable, often cutting out on weekends. Even after they claimed it was fixed, the problems kept happening. Overall, the maintenance and management here are completely unacceptable, and it seriously affected my quality of life. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a stable, livable apartment.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Not as good
February 11, 2025To be fair, it is fine to live. But keep in mind the catch: Awfully slow repair speed: The maintenance guy is good. But anything beyond his capability (elevator, AC, hot water) takes an extremely long time to fix. The leasing office always tells you they are working on it. The elevator almost broken for the whole term!Review from Apartments.com
Ripoff
July 30, 2024Be prepared for a horrible experience if you make the mistake of living here. The leasing team is awful and irresponsive to complaints. The building rips off its residents with exorbitant fees such as a required “garbage valet” and $100+ charges for key replacements. The building also has issues with mold and pests. The mold issue is particularly acute due to the lack of fans in the bathroom. Pick another apartment near Homewood instead!Review from Apartments.com
Best leasing team
May 30, 2024Came in for a walk in tour. I didn’t have an appointment but was still accommodated. Vernell was quite pleasant and very knowledgeable. She was able to answer all of my questions. ;-)Review from Apartments.com

Even though building only 3 years old - AC does not work
May 6, 2018The AC does not work. The air is being circulated by it is not being cooled down. Management is troubleshooting this and providing box fans. Temperatures are hitting 90 degrees; box fans do not cut it. They should be offering window units to the suites that are impacted. This has been on going for weeks. If it was in their apartment/home, management would not be so tolerant.Property Manager Responded
May 8, 2018Hello-Thank you for submitting a review. While repairs to a portion of the system are underway, we are working to provide apartments with equipment to help with temperature control. The apartments should not be reaching the temperatures you are reporting, so please reach out to me via email at rkaltrider@cocm.com with your aparment location so that we can provide additional assistance. - Randi

Not the worst, not the best
November 4, 2017Decent building. However, they'll charge you late fees even if you pay your rent on time, and they're unwilling to work with you to get the problem resolved in a timely manner. Kinda a rip off. Also the walls are paper thin--seems to me that the company just wants to make as much money as possible, and doesn't really care about the residents very much/cut some corners in construction.Review from Apartments.com
Honesty
July 4, 2017My adult daughter stayed at this apartment during 2016-2017 year and her contract was not signed. However, she had a mental breakdown in February, 2017, and attempted suicide. So, she dropped out of school at JHU. In spite of that, Management, demanded remaining rent from me as a father although I had nothing to do with her contract. She is 23 years old . Now the residence is threatening to sue me and report me to credit Bureaus and Collection agencies, saying my daughter mental problems have ...nothing to do with payment. To me, this administrative behavior is insensitive, greedy and ridiculous. I will sue them, too, if they continue bothering me. Also, Maryland Law allows application fee of $25. But this apartment complex charges $50 in violation of State Law. Multiply that by hundreds of students who reside there. What a rip off!! Enoch 7/4th, 2017Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
