Been here 9 years
September 25, 2023I have been here about nine years now and LOVE IT!!!! if I have any issues, they take care of it very fast. Every once in while we have problems with kids running in the hallway and knocking on the door, but who doesn’t they are always working on the property and trying to make it better for its residences. I’ve never had any issues with any bugs. They started spraying once a month here after the first two years I was here so if there were ever problems, I never heard about them. Yuck
September 27, 2017Renter beware! They do NOT care about bugs. They supposedly have a company come in and check, complete with a dog, for bed bugs. My unit was INFESTED and they found NOTHING! Well until I moved out due to the conditions that is. Then I was charged for treating them. I will make sure anyone that asks me for suggestions for a place to rent to tell them to avoid this dump, along with the pest control company that supposedly does the inspections.Review from Apartments.com
Money hungry, and gross
January 28, 2016They will find any excuse possible to charge you extra. They will force a monthly rent on you at random. Building are infested with bed bugs. They only treat one apartment at a time because they insist the bugs can not travel from one unit to the next. They only pay for the first treatment. After that it is deemed that you are bringing them in. One building also has fleas. They have apartments in Urbandale too, and clearly do not care about this property at all.Property Manager Responded
September 26, 2017I am sorry you feel you did not have a good experience living at Oak Crossing Apartments. I would like to take this chance to comment on your points made above. The point about forcing a monthly rent at random, I believe you are talking about the month to month fee we charge if you decide to not sign a new 6 or 12 month lease with us and want to go month to month. We send out renewal letters at least 45 days before your current lease ends and that letter states what options you have and the cost associated with that decision. A $35 month to month fee is a very low amount compared to many other apartment complexes. I have heard of some charging as much as $100 for a month to month lease. We have a GREAT proactive approach when it comes to bed bugs. I would have to say that i do not know of any other apartment complex that takes the proactive approach. We have a contract with a company that goes into every single unit twice a year and sprays, dust outlets, physically looks for any signs ...of bed bugs and also brings along the bed bug dog. Not only is this done twice a year we also have them come once a month to check all new move ins and all apartments on notice to vacate in order to insure that someone new that just moved in didn't bring them and that the ones on notice does not have them so the new people moving in doesn't move into a unit that has them. As far as charging I cannot remember a time that we have accessed a charge for a bed bug treatment. All we ask is that our residents work with us to help determine where they may of gotten them and to educate themselves.
