A Cautionary Tale: Read the Fine Print and Document Everything
April 15, 2026There are some genuine upsides here — spacious rooms, decent snow removal, and a convenient location for commuters. Heather, in particular, was a bright spot in an otherwise frustrating experience. So this isn't a blanket condemnation of the property. But there are two serious issues prospective tenants deserve to know about before signing anything. The Bed Bug Incident Shortly after moving in, I began experiencing bites nightly. After weeks of this, I found an actual bed bug on my person and ...requested a formal inspection. What followed was difficult to take seriously: the property manager conducted what I can only describe as a 60-second visual scan of the room and declared with complete confidence that there were no bed bugs. He repeated this assertion firmly, even as I explained the situation in detail. A professional treatment was eventually arranged. The bites stopped immediately afterward. Draw your own conclusions. The Lease Renewal Trap I signed a 3-month lease. On the final day, I went to return my keys and was informed — for the first time — that the lease does not simply expire at the end of the term. A 30-day written notice of intent to vacate is required, or the lease auto-renews. This clause is not discussed at signing; it is buried in the agreement. When I explained that I genuinely could not afford an additional month and needed to leave as planned, management agreed to deduct the amount from my security deposit — and made clear they considered this a favor. The Bottom Line If you do consider this property, read every line of your lease before signing — ideally with a second set of eyes — and get every commitment in writing. I used to really like it here
December 19, 2020I really liked this apartment when I first moved in. It's spacious, affordable, and the office staff is very nice. But then I had my first run in with maintenance. We told them our toilet was bubbling and water was coming up from the bathtub about 6 months of having lived here. One of them came over, and because it wasn't bubbling while he was there he said it was probably fine and then just left. Lo and behold a month later it starts doing it again. And this time when maintenance shows up I go ...to show the bathroom only to find it flooded with sewage. The next door neighbor had the same thing happen as well that day. After an actual plumber came to fix it and someone extracted the extra water we were informed that us, the tenants, had to clean up the remaining sewage and god knows what else was covering out entire bathroom. All of our towels had to be disposed of, our bathroom mat had to be tossed, our toilet bowl brush and plunger as well. We spent probably a good 4 hours trying to clean it all and couldn't get everything off. I really want to give this place a good rating. I've even recommended friend's apply here when they were looking for a space to live. But now I'm not so sure. All of this could have been prevented if our first call to maintenance had been taken seriously. The only reason we are going to renew our lease is because we can't afford to move.
