Park Crest is an apartment complex on the edge of Glover Park in Washington DC. I chose this neighborhood because of its proximity to Georgetown University.
1. Location advantage
My daily commute involves walking for a total of eighteen minutes. I pass through a part of the forest called Whitehaven Parkway, which is like being transported to the set of Pocahontas- I assumed there would be a paved path, because a route is visible in Google Maps, but there is none. This poses a challenge as the
...dress code for class is business casual, so I need to carry an extra pair of shoes everywhere. Nevertheless, walking through the park is a great way to start the day.
2. Amenities
Park Crest offers basement laundry, a nice little gym, bike racks, and a lot of communal outdoor space with tables and grills. I have seen deer and other small forest animals on the grounds. It is a pet friendly community.
The building is old but well maintained. I have noticed frugal design choices (I have two different styles of laminate counter-top installed in my kitchen), but everything is clean and sturdy- nothing fancy.
3. Rent
The rate is very reasonable and online payments are easy to set up.
3. Management Service
The management company is a huge asset to Park Crest. The staff is very accommodating and I see someone daily, from either the maintenance crew or the cleaning service, who is happy to help with a heavy package.
4. Ceilings
I am in a basement "efficiency" studio which is compact at 220 square feet, but the ceiling is nice and high so my loft bed works great.
