Pleased and Positive
July 29, 2024I have been at Parkside almost a month. It feels like HOME already. I was lucky to get a three bedroom apartment. The space/layout fits my need. Also, the security gate is big plus for senior living. The team in the leasing office is personable and very accommodating. When there was a need for maintenance, they responded expeditiously. They did not appear bothered but ready to complete the task. I am more than pleased to call Parkside at South Tryon my new home.Property Manager Responded

Great until you live there
March 27, 2024When I toured the complex it was amazing and spotless. You find out quick that is not the norm. Trash not picked up all over the complex. Management makes you feel like you should be picking it up or at least notifing them about it. You know, instead of them just regularly doing it. Pool is repeatedly closed without any notice. Only one grill has worked for the majority of my stay here. Great place to store your belongs, as long as the gate is not broken. Which happens quite regularly.Property Manager Responded

Hit and Run Victim
March 5, 2020Management is relatively responsive and helpful. Parking isn’t great, but there are always spots (sometimes a hike). Clubhouse facilities are nice. Interior of apartment is nice. The traffic pattern for entering and exiting the complex is terribly annoying. Trash is everywhere and piles up very high around the dumpster. The gate is broken as often as it is working. Police have been on site responding to calls multiple times in the six months I’ve lived there. Overall, I’d say it’s a decent ...place to live because of the proximity to Uptown. I will likely not renew. I think I can find a comparably better option for a better price. Update I only put two stars so you would know I'm a reasonable person and not someone who "wishes they could give negative stars" that a one star review may denote. My vehicle was hit in the parking lot of the complex last week. Bumper literally on the ground when I walked to my car in the morning. The car next to me was hit as well. After talking with neighbors, I found four other instances of their cars being hit with no witnesses and no surveillance. This has been going on for a while. I spoke with the upper management, and they could do absolutely nothing for me. Wouldn't install surveillance, wouldn't reduce my rent, wouldn't let me terminate lease, wouldn't offer a complimentary garage. Living in this complex is a financial liability, as you are surrounded by tenants who are willing to cost you large amounts of money. I would never recommend anyone to live at Parkside, even if the rent was even cheaper. I am leaving as soon as I can.Property Manager Responded

August 29, 2019When I first toured the complex, I fell in love with the appearance of the apartment and the fact that it was located conveniently from my job. However, after moving into my apartment, everything turned into a nightmare. I realized that my apartment is located next to the highway and I hear cars passing constantly, making it hard for me to go/stay asleep. This is especially difficult for me as I work on the nightshift and am off during the daytime. I wished that this was brought to my ...attention prior to me moving in by the staff. I believe that in addition to the pros, potential residents should also be informed at the cons as well. I feel like the focus is more on filling a vacant apartment rather than the actual needs of the renter. I should not have to wait 6 months before I am able to switch apartments especially since this was not in my lease or brought to my attention by staff beforehand.Property Manager Responded

Horrible Apartment
December 29, 2016I will start on a positive note. The new property manager is very pleasant and helpful. I lived here for nearly 2 years and my husband and I broke our lease due to a number of issues. For starters the property manager for the majority of the time we lived in the complex was extremely rude. The assistant manager who is still on staff was equally as rude and when she felt inconvenienced to help you she would yell at customers, threaten them and then hang up on them. The maintenance staff is ...wonderful when the requests are communicated with the maintenance staff. The assistant manager that typically answers the phone failed to communicate 100% of our maintenance requests. My husband and I reported a crack in our tub 6 months ago that was never fixed and the mold throughout the apartment created health issues for both of us. The first week we moved in I reported a 2.5 inch crack in the window that allowed for a draft in the winter and air to escape during the summer was never fixed. I reported this a least 2 dozen times. The carpet was disgusting when we moved in and was covered in dead and live bugs. In the nearly 2 years of living in this complex the gate has only worked a handful of times. Over the last few months there has been more crime, break ins, robberies and a new smell very similar to pungent drugs. After reporting the front and back gate being left open nearly every day for several months I gave up. My husband and I have had nothing but issues with the rude staff and the poor safety standards of this complex. After taking our concerns to the corporate office on a number of occasions we opted to move out prior to the end of our lease term was complete. I felt threatened not only by the activity going on throughout the complex, but also the by the attitude exemplified by the assistant manager. Until the corporate office replaces the assistant manager and makes improvements to the security system and the outdated interior of the apartments with poor health quality I would not recommend this or any other Grey Star Community. I appreciate the efforts that the new property manager has made to fix the problems caused by other staff members.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
