Not what I expected I was ignored by the front office upon arrival for my scheduled tour. Once acknowledged I waited an additional 30 minutes until I went to the back to remind them I'd been waiting. Phone calls weren't answered promptly and were never returned after leaving callback information. Overall the experience was unprofessional.

Beautiful Apartment, Terrible Tour guide This apartment building was beautiful, and had all the amenities I could want, but I almost changed my mind about applying because of my tour guide. She was 40 minutes late to the tour without any form of communication, and said it was because of an “emergency meeting.” She quoted me for 3 different apartments and said we would be able to see all of them, no virtual tour necessary. We only saw one of them, and then she gave me a virtual tour of one other ...
when I asked. It was frustrating, and although I feel good about my decision to apply and hopefully move to Prairie Shores, she gave me doubts.

I am extremely upset with how terrible the communication at this apartment complex is. It is impossible to get in contact with their onsite leasing department the phone constantly reroutes to a central third party office that is not even helpful. What is the point of having a contract number if you cannot be contacted nor follow up when requested to. This inconvenience will cause me to have to go to the leasing office in person after I already have made payments toward a new lease yet haven’t ...
heard back from the apartment since signing the lease and am now in limbo. A terrible way to leave an impression on an incoming resident. Highly disappointed.

I have never in my life encountered a management office so spectacularly indifferent to the people it is supposed to serve. Prairie Shores management operates as if appointments are merely suggestions — a courtesy extended to residents only to be ignored the moment it becomes inconvenient for whoever happens to be sitting in that office.
Even when you do everything right — schedule an appointment in advance, show up on time, come prepared — you are made to wait 15 to 30 minutes as a baseline. ...
Not once. Not twice. Every single time, without exception. This is not a coincidence. This is a pattern, and it is a deliberate one.
What makes it truly infuriating is what you witness while you wait. Staff members are visibly free — laughing, chatting, doing nothing of consequence — yet somehow completely unavailable to the resident standing right in front of them. I have waited over an hour for a scheduled meeting that never happened. An entire hour of my day, gone, with zero acknowledgment, zero apology, and zero explanation.
This has happened to me on multiple occasions. It is not a bad day. It is not a miscommunication. It is a management team that fundamentally does not respect the residents who pay rent in this building. If you are considering Prairie Shores, understand clearly what you are signing up for: a management office that will waste your time without remorse, and a staff that will look you in the eye and make you wait anyway.
Zero stars if the platform allowed it. I cannot recommend this building to anyone who values basic professionalism or human decency from the people managing their home.

Amazing showing with Tara ! Tara is very knowledgeable and love what she does! We enjoy getting information from her . She also chat with my little son to make him happy to see the apartments, how amazing she is. I used to be a traveler and once I told her that she started sharing with us her wonderful experiences in other countries. Hopefully we will see her in leasing team for years. It’s hard to see people happy at their work. She enjoys about what she do and make others enjoy too.

Ant and roach infested buildings. No matter how clean you keep your apartment, an ungodly trail of ants will always be crawling around. I almost crashed my car because I saw a trail of ants coming from my FRESHLY WASHED jacket as I was driving. I pay for a RESERVED pass ($75/mo) and my car was still towed FROM MY RESERVED SPOT. Only half of the washers/dryers ever work at a time, and they don’t work well. $3.50 for a half-done wash and $3 for smelly dryers. Management/leasing NEVER answers the ...
phone- you must go over to the leasing office where you’ll be met with annoyed gazes as if your presence is an inconvenience. Half of the residents are college students with remarkably poor hygiene, so the buildings smell like sweaty underarms or strong spices. PLEASE, for your mental health and sanity, RENT ELSEWHERE.

Disappointed with Prairie Shores: Mishandled Charge

I lived at Prairie Shores for quite some time and, unfortunately, my experience ended on a very disappointing note. After moving out, I received a charge for door repair, which I believe was mistakenly applied. I reached out to request detailed documentation supporting this charge. While Prairie Shores initially responded and assured me they would follow up, I never received the requested information despite sending multiple follow-up emails. Rather than addressing my concerns or providing ...
clarification, the charge was forwarded to a collections agency.
The collection agency, IQ Data International, contacted me with what they called a "courtesy call" before proceeding with collections. During this call, I explained the situation and the reason for the delayed payment. However, their representative informed me that my only option was to "pay in protest." To make matters worse, I was pressured to make the payment immediately during that call, without being afforded even a single day to review the matter or seek further clarification.
I am incredibly disappointed with Prairie Shores’ lack of transparency, communication, and accountability in handling this issue. Additionally, the high-pressure tactics employed by the collection agency felt unfair and unprofessional. This experience has been both frustrating and distressing, and I strongly urge Prairie Shores to improve their processes for addressing tenant concerns and disputes.

By far the worst place I have ever lived in 40 years! Cockroaches, low water pressure, laundry is hit or miss if the machines work, security it practically worthless, and the leasing staff is rude, incompetent, and lazy. 9 months in and I still don't have all the services that I'm required to pay for. I had an appointment which I was late to, due to being new to the city. An agent still attended me and sent me a virtual tour, and also told me to email her back so she could put me into her tour schedule the next day. I did so. She didn’t answer until the next day, then proceeded to simply ask me the same question she had already previously asked me. ...

I have lived here since early 2023, and have had relatives here in the past. I currently live in one of their "renovated" units.
-Heating issues are terrible here. WGN came out on 1/16/24 due to the excessive complaints of no heat, my own unit is barely 50 degrees currently. Golub/Prairie Shores wasted a ton of money on the "Hub" building instead of replacing these windows that are from the 1950s.
-I constantly see ants and tiny bugs in my apartment. My building had a whole building pest ...
control happen 2 months after moving in as roaches kept getting seen everywhere. I still see them maybe once or twice a month.
-Ground floor units suffer from plumbing issues it seems. My kitchen sink would constantly back up from the sewer. The explanation given was that it just happens to the ground floor units due to all the units above it, which is just not an acceptable answer.
-Bathroom faucet constantly leaks out rusty water when it's first turned on.
-Freezer would constantly have issues going into a defrost cycle and ruining my food. It was swapped with a new unit, and that new one developed the same defrost issue within 2 months.
-Parking is atrocious, and Contract Tow should be ashamed for raising the annual $125 parking fee to $25 flat fee every month (now it's 300 total). You get no guest passes. Winter parking is terrible for guests as King Dr has a winter overnight parking ban.
-People here are inconsiderate in general. Laundry machines are communal in the basement (10 washers, 10 dryers) as most units do not have their own laundry units. People will take up more than 3 washers/dryers at a time, and then leave their clothes in there for hours on end. If you don't do your laundry in the early morning or late at night, get ready to have to move peoples laundry out and deal with them crying about it.
-Lease renewal is a joke. They jacked my rates up over $150 for a studio. I am moving out shortly, and checked that they listed my studio for the original rent I was paying instead of the lease increase. That is just ridiculous.
