I lived at Rivershire for several years, and unfortunately, based on my experience, I would not recommend living here.
One of my biggest concerns was dark staining/discoloration in the apartment. While I was still living there, I told management I was concerned it could possibly be mold and asked for it to be checked. I also told them I was experiencing a very dry mouth, throat and lips and constantly drinking water without relief. I wasn't claiming mold was definitely the cause—I simply wanted ...
my concerns investigated. To my knowledge, the apartment was never properly tested for mold while I lived there.
At move-out, I was told the staining was candle soot and that the apartment had to be painted twice, supposedly costing around $1,400. I was charged $700. I strongly disagree that occasionally burning one or two candles explains the extent of the staining, especially since I had already raised concerns about possible mold before moving out.
The heating and cooling were also frustrating. The AC did not properly reach the bedrooms, making them very hot during the summer. During winter, my heating bills sometimes reached around $400, and the poor windows didn't help.
I also dealt with petty complaints from the downstairs neighbor. Management once contacted me because there was a BUG in my outdoor garbage can. It's an outdoor garbage can—bugs happen. I couldn't believe something that minor warranted contacting me.
What disappointed me most was how things were handled when I moved. After living there for years, I asked to extend my lease by ONE WEEK because my new place wasn't ready. I explained that I would have nowhere to go during that gap, but they would not work with me. Then afterward, there were comments about being sad that I was leaving after so many years. That didn't feel sincere to me. If you value a long-term resident, I believe it should show when they actually need a little understanding.
I was also charged for blinds and an exercise bag left behind, but the $700 painting charge and how my concerns about the staining were handled bothered me the most.
This was my personal experience. If you're considering Rivershire, ask questions about heating costs, windows, whether the AC reaches the bedrooms, how possible mold or moisture concerns are handled, lease extensions, and move-out charges.
After several years there, I expected better communication and consideration. I'm glad I moved and would not choose to live at Rivershire again.
