I was honestly super surprised to see the one-star review; I can say with certainty that that is a huge anomaly here. I'm speaking for myself, but also for all of the residents who I pass in the halls and elevators, when we always share how we have the best set-up in Charlottesville. can say the managers here (both in Megan and in Tyler) and the maintenance are unparalleled. Beyond that, all of the perks do make a big difference - valet trash and package delivery right to your door. Tyler also is incredibly responsive and 100% on the ball with everything. You never feel like you're imposing and he has been willing to go above and beyond - as Megan did, too. Price wise, the bang for the buck we get is tremendous; I know plenty of people who live in Charlottesville paying the same for old buildings while dealing with the same landlord/management issues you hear about ad nauseum. Sadly I'll be moving out soon for a new job in New York, but I will miss it here tremendously and can say wholeheartedly that I have never had as good of a living experience as I've had here.

This is without a doubt the best apartment in Charlottesville. Being within walking distance of UVA and downtown is spectacular. There are several great restaurants and bars within 100 feet of the front door. The location is obviously premier but the service I’ve experienced has been top notch. I can confidently say this is the worst apartment complex I’ve ever lived in. Don’t let the high rent fool you...my experience at six hundred west main falls far short of anything resembling “luxury living.” On the first day I moved in, I discovered multiple previously undocumented maintenance issues. Some were addressed, but the most serious problem was not: my shower leaked in a way that allowed water to seep under the bathroom flooring, where it would remain trapped for weeks without drying. ...

I documented the resulting mold growth, as well as brown liquid being forced up from beneath the floor when stepped on. Despite this, no one seemed particularly concerned about the issue. Over the course of eight months, maintenance staff and plumbers came to my unit at least ten times. Multiple workers indicated that the shower enclosure needed to be replaced, yet management repeatedly delayed taking meaningful action. I was told on more than one occasion that the issue would be resolved, only to have another temporary fix attempted instead. I have dealt with ongoing stress, constant disruptions from people repeatedly entering my apartment, and periods where I could not properly use my bathroom. When they finally agreed to replace the enclosure, the experience was still disappointing. The installation quality was extremely poor, not even up to the standards of the previous enclosure, and the unit was left in a significant mess that I had to clean myself over the weekend. For the rent this property charges, especially after increasing my rent, that level of service is unacceptable. Additional issues: The “custom” roller blinds make several windows impossible to properly operate. Outdoor common areas frequently smell strongly of pet waste because residents let their dogs poop and pee everywhere. This was nowhere near the standard of living I expected for the price. Based on my documented experience, I would strongly caution others before signing a lease here.

Unfortunately, the underlying issue proved more complex than initially anticipated, which resulted in multiple repair attempts before the decision was made to replace the shower enclosure. We also regret that the installation and cleanup following the replacement did not meet the standards we expect from our vendors. 600 West Main is probably the best centrally located apartment in Charlottesville. The downtown mall is walkable as is the University and the hospital. There are several restaurants that are just outside the front door. The building is designed well aesthetically and acoustically. I hear minimal noise from neighbors and the train noise is minimal for how close the tracks are behind it. The best part about the apartment though is the staff. Megan goes above and beyond to take care of the building ...

Fortunately, the place is relatively close walking distance to many things. -Accessibility limitations for anyone but you. Although this is a positive thing, it is also a hard challenge. The ability to only access the building yourself means it is safe, but it also means you can't buzz any guests or food orders in. Megan does her best to help with this during hours but out of office hours you must meet everyone at the entrance. Not a big problem but sometimes an added step. -Gym membership is not included. On the website when I first looked it said there was a gym membership included as we do not have a fitness center or pool. After inquiring about it after my move in, I was told that was phased out and not included. I believe maybe a discounted price is being investigated for residents, but I cannot confirm that is the case as I just go to my own gym that is open 24 hours. Even with the Con's, this place is the best in the heart of Charlottesville.

The manager, Megan, is fantastic and the maintenance man, Damien, is the best. They both love our dog and are always very helpful and kind. I would give both of them 5 stars for sure. Lost a star for me due to loud and frequent train noise, weird art with displays that never rotate, lack of bike storage, and paid parking and for some reason the manager is not always at the front desk when I look for her…seems she had to move her office into a weird closet which makes no sense to me. Seems like ...

sometimes functionality suffers for the sake of aesthetics, which is a bummer.
