  • Three Years of Unresolved Maintenance, Safety, and Habitability Issues

    I was a resident of Solana Vista Apartments for more than three years, and unfortunately, my experience was marked by ongoing health, safety, sanitation, and maintenance problems that were repeatedly reported but largely remained unresolved. During my tenancy, there was extremely high turnover among property managers and maintenance personnel, resulting in numerous unresolved repair issues. Some maintenance requests remained outstanding for more than two years despite repeated reports. During ...
    the last several months of my residency, few repairs appeared to be taking place. There were numerous water outages, including approximately 6–7 consecutive days without hot water. I also experienced extended periods where the air conditioning could not maintain a reasonable indoor temperature, with temperatures exceeding 80 degrees during the South Texas summer. The aging and inefficient HVAC system resulted in electric bills often exceeding $300 per month for a 945-square-foot apartment. I experienced sewage backups and raw sewage flowing onto the front porch, creating serious health and sanitation hazards. Persistent leaks, moisture intrusion, mold, and dry rot damage indicated prolonged water damage. Recurring pest infestations continued despite repeated requests. Security was another concern. Broken locks, damaged door jambs, and the lack of a secondary locking device on the sliding door created unsafe conditions. It also took nearly two years for the property to provide a fire extinguisher. The parking lot was recently renovated, yet within only a few months had already deteriorated, raising questions about the quality of the work performed. Management frequently issued notices regarding alleged lease violations. However, while residents were expected to comply with lease requirements, many reported maintenance and habitability concerns remained unresolved. These issues were reported through the tenant portal and directly to management. Due to the severity of the conditions, complaints were also filed with the City of Corpus Christi–Nueces County Public Health District and other agencies. After enduring these conditions for more than three years, I chose not to renew my lease. Residents deserve safe, sanitary, secure, and properly maintained housing. Unfortunately, that was not my experience at Solana Vista Apartments. I hope ownership and management make meaningful improvements for current and future residents.

    These people have made my past 2 years hell. Not only were the health codes not up to par they didn’t care that their tenants were suffering. They also put fake charges on my final statement because they are incompetent, untrustworthy, malicious, and money hungry. I have already gone through the BBB and FTC and they have more coming to them. They will lie to you anyway they can to take your money and get you into a contract. Once you’re in the apartment you’ll notice German roaches, mold, leaks ...

    I moved into the Solana Vista apartments (#1605) in January 2022. It seemed as though every day there was a new challenge living there. A few highlights of my time there: Hot water was out 1/22/22 Hives all over my body, from the stress, or the mold 1/22/22-2/28/22 Closter rods were damaged 1/22/22 Water leak from upstairs bathroom into the downstairs pantry 1/28/22 Light in the kitchen never worked 1/22/22 Water stains all over the ceiling 1/22/22 Heater out 2/4/22 Electric outlets not working ...
    1/22/22 Mold in downstairs pantry, due to water leak 2/13/22, repaired, but found again 10/3/22 Mold in downstairs bathroom due to the toilet leaking 10/3/22 ROACHES constantly, pest control only came into apartment TWICE in a year Multiple stray cats Fence by the parking lot has been broken Despite multiple attempts to contact about these issues, there were no results. If they “repaired” something, it would just break again, or be even worse than before. The staff were the least professional people I have ever had the displeasure of doing business with. In my time there, I went through almost 10 different office staff, managers, etc. All dismissed my concerns out of hand, or ignored me entirely. I have tried contacting their corporate office, with no response. Multiple neighbors had similar complaints of mold, roaches, things left in disrepair, heater/AC out, water leaks, etc. I’m sure they will see this, respond with their measly apologies and attempts to fix, but the damage was done, and was not repaired. If you’re thinking, oh but it will save me money, in the long run, living here is not worth the emotional hassle and stress I experienced. There are much nicer apartments in town for similar prices, where the maintenance will actually fix things and the staff won’t just sweep everything under their moldy, roach filled rug.

    I was happy to find a decent place for the cost. As soon as I moved in it has been one thing after another. The assistant property manager is rude and dismissive and there have been major issues that needed serious attention. I do understand this is an older complex and I know things break all the time however, they do not fix properly or in a timely manner.Its a temporary fix, like putting a Band-Aid over a gash. The floor is rotten and it looks like it has been damaged for a couple of years. I ...

Pros: *Staff is very attentive and maintenance is quick to come if needed. *They had no problems with my service animal. *Very close to everything...gas stations, grocery stores, and department stores. Little things that bother me: *Misleading in the sense that the kitchen appliances, at least in our home, are nowhere near as new as in the picture *Kitchen counter is not granite or faux granite.
