I've been here 15 years...
May 15, 2025I just happened to look at the reviews and saw one that mentioned roaches. In the 15 years and 2 different apartments I've had here, I've NEVER seen one roach! Just wanted to clear that up. The reason I've been here 15 years is because I love this place! I've never had any issues with staff. They keep it clean. When something breaks, they fix it. Everything here is fair except for the views. The views are AMAZING! South Shore Beach Apartments is a rare jewel!Review from Apartments.com

Its worth every investment
June 29, 2018I love South Shore Beach apartments you have your own personal beach 24hr door man and workout center. The staff is nice and if anything is broke they have 24hr maintenance I recommend this for any apt buyer. They have parking for purchase which is much needed in the South Shore Drive area indoor and outdoor. Utterly Unsafe
March 14, 2018Unsafe building, don't be fooled. Extremely lax security. Unconcerned office management. Doors (with locks, but still) hanging/sitting wide open for whomever to enter. Garage door up/wide open for hours and hours, sometimes all weekend long, anyone can just walk in & steal or hide. No privacy, staff constantly gossiping about tenants. Very busy lobby, lots of loitering, foul language and unsavory characters. No one regulates. Cars are not safe in overpriced outdoor parking spaces, windows ...busted, flat tires, parts missing. No security walks in lots. Washing machines & dryers old and always broken. Especially a bad place for women, very unsafe for women. If you want to feel safe, this is not the place. Dont know what to say
December 8, 2016This is a great apartment complex. Nice units, pleasant building, and great tenants. My only concern, is that the demand that rent is paid on time, every month, which is understandable. However, should you decided to leave as a tenant, good luck on receiving your security deposit back! Literally this realty company will wait up until the very last minute before returning anything! My rent is paid in full and I left this complex. It's almost approaching two months and still no deposit return! I ...understand the state of Illinois has a 30-45 day period for the realty company to return deposit, but that doesn't mean you necessarily have to utilize every bit of that timeframe. It's my money and I needed it now! Should it go beyond the 45 day period per the state of Illinois. I certainly will be following up with a lawyer to sue. DISCRIMINATION
February 17, 2016They refuse to accept me UBER DRIVERS claiming they had issues in the past with two drivers. So any potential renters with 1099 will not be accepted. I feel like that's diactimatiom even though it's a "private property." Although I lived at this property before, they are very nice but the new law is just getting in their head probably because of this false ratings and medical students having 1st hand opportunity to rent first before the people in the community.Review from Apartments.com

August 5, 2015This is the best High-rise on the South Shore area to live. It has a wonderful North or South view. It is the closes building to the Lake, we walk out the back door and onto our private beach area. The public transportation is the best, featuring 5 different bus routes, 3 with express downtown rides. The building is very well maintained, with 24 hour maintenance. I have lived in just about all high-rises in the city, North and South and this I n=must say is one of the warmest and friendliest ...places ever. Affordable High Rise Living
July 28, 2015The building is older and the heating / cooling is dated [just on or off - no thermostat] but the management is friendly, the security is top notch - there's underground parking (for a fee). The building has 34 floors and apartments range from Studio to 2 bedroom. I have a studio and it's perfect for a busy professional, a student or someone just starting out. My view is spectacular - windows are huge and I can see the Chicago skyline a across the water just a few miles away. Did I mention the ...building is on the shoreline. Worst Management Ever
July 18, 2014I currently live at south shore beach but I will be moving as soon as my lease is up it is unbelievable about the way they handle the parking there I had to travel for work and my car was mistakenly parked in the wrong place.
