I have never written a negative review of any company until now, but my experience compels me to share this. Upon receiving my move-out report, I was shocked to see a $50 charge for a trash can we allegedly "stole." It took two weeks for the company to locate the trash can and remove the charge from the invoice. Next, I was billed $310 to repaint the entire apartment, despite ...only two out of seven photos showing areas that needed touch-up painting. Charging for a full repaint feels excessive and unjustified. Additionally, the carpet cleaning quote, dated two weeks before we even moved out, stated that cleaning was "not recommended" and recommended a complete carpet replacement. Why would a carpet cleaning company refuse to clean an entire apartment? When I finally reached someone to discuss these charges, the conversation was unhelpful. The report highlighted supposed "discoloration" under my dresser and nightstand—areas where carpet is unlikely to get dirty or stained. When I questioned this, the representative backtracked, claiming they could see "where we were walking." Isn’t that normal wear and tear? After speaking with three different people from the management company, I was finally connected to a manager. About an hour into our conversation, I asked if there was any point in discussing the charges, as it seemed their opinion was final regardless of my input. Her response was a blunt "yeah." This experience has been my first time feeling truly taken advantage of by an apartment management company. I understand paying for specific sections of carpet that exceed normal wear and tear, but being charged for what feels like a complete apartment renovation is outrageous. Other than that they charge you new fees constantly because "policy" is always changing and the front office staff are never of any help, just tell you that you should read your lease agreement because they're always "subject to change" because that makes sense? Even if you have a reserved parking spot, people still park in your spot and the office does nothing about it. And any maintenance request takes over ...a month to complete. Always clean and it was truly always quick to me. The most that’s ever been wrong is the gate not closing but they took care of that so quickly. Lived in a 2bed in 2018, I moved away to save a little money but I’m coming back in 2020! You get what you pay for & Southern Ave Villas is the best! The hood of the car has paint that is faded and to them they said our car will get towed if it park in the complex. Not to mention the car functions properly, does not make excessive noise, and does not have any problems with oil stains etc. Many other people got this as well. I hope their management considered the concept that "aesthetically pleasing" and very subjective.
FINED VICTIM OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

This will be the LAST time I ever do that.. Approximately two weeks ago, I was a victim of domestic violence and received a note on my door a couple days ago for a fine of $200! ..What for? For causing a “disturbance.” I wasn’t throwing a party or playing loud music, my life was in danger! After explaining to the front office that I was a victim and called 911 because my life ...was in danger, the employees had the audacity to blame ME, the victim, although I had a police report. They claim that the Mesa Police Department charges the apartment complex for being here. After calling the Mesa Police Department & the officers who were at the scene, I confirmed & recorded the phone call where they stated that the information I was given, was false. The employees at the front office also said that the lease clearly states that a resident will be fined if they cause a disturbance so “I should have read my lease.” Which, I did. I would understand if I was being loud but I was in genuine danger. AND this took place INSIDE the apartment. None of neighbors knocked on my door because you can’t hear through the walls. The employees at the front office were very rude & didn’t care to understand. They tilted their heads so far the side when I spoke to them that I was concerned they’d hurt their necks. PLEASE DON’T SIGN A LEASE HERE. Look for a place where you won’t be fined for calling 911 when you’re life is in danger! & most important, not blame a victim for the abuse they received. I’ve only lived here a month & have had no prior problems. I was so excited to move in but now I see that they fool use with fake smiles to get us to sign. My girl and I spent days cleaning our apartment before moving out. Checked and was told twice to not worry about the carpet because we had a free carpet cleaning. Did a walk through and was told the place was perfect. Ended up not getting any of the deposit back and owing money. The reasoning was “had to return to livable condition”. I was very clear that day that we have moved out of the apartment completely and what can I do to break my lease? I was given misinformation by the staff: I was told that it would not make a different to break my lease since I have more than 2 months left to complete my lease. After 23 days they told me that the first notice was not good enough that we need to do a written notice. My question is ...why was I not given the proper paper work on the first notice? I have already paid for 2 months of empty apartment but now they are charging me 10 days beyond my lease period. Which is more than $1000.00. Very unprofessional management. Very Dishonest management. They are telling me to complaint to the corporate office, which I have send them a letter of complaint via email and fax 6 days ago with no response to this day. There is no phone number to the corporate office. I have expressed several times to not enter my home if I'm not present. Wendy the apartment manager has proven to be unhelpful when approached. When you first move in everything is beautiful and great. Here I am 8 months later with a broken shower, cabinets and cracking walls. Please save your money and the headache.

I will say that the first young lady was very polite and willing to help however, she did indicate that she was new and did not have the answers to the questions and if we would wait until Corrine came approximately 15 minutes.
