The worst , DONT MOVE HERE
December 8, 2025I rarely leave reviews, but my experience at The Brook at Columbia has been extremely disappointing and frustrating. The service here is consistently poor, and communication is almost nonexistent. Every time I have tried to speak with the manager in the office, she refuses to engage and has been openly rude. It feels impossible to get a straightforward answer from anyone. The leasing office repeatedly tells you that maintenance will come “soon,” but no one ever shows up. My maintenance requests ...have been marked as completed even when nothing was actually fixed. I have had ongoing issues with plumbing, appliances, and even basic structural problems with the walls. Despite reporting these problems multiple times, nothing has been resolved. This has been the worst apartment experience I have ever had, and I would not recommend living here to anyone looking for responsive management or a well-maintained home.Property Manager Responded

Don’t move here
August 25, 2025This community was once a pleasant place to live, with respectful and considerate neighbors. Unfortunately, beginning last fall, groups of unsupervised youth, both residents and outsiders, have increasingly gathered on the property. They regularly occupy the apartment hallways, where they party and smoke marijuana at all hours of the day and night. Whether it’s 10 a.m. on a weekday or 2 a.m. on a Sunday, the disturbances are constant. The pervasive odor enters my home making me ill and forcing ...me to be exposed against my will. Beyond the nuisance, these gatherings create an environment that feels unsafe. I often feel uncomfortable leaving my apartment when they are present, and I even hesitate to travel, concerned that the situation could escalate to break-ins. Despite repeated written and phone complaints since last fall, management has failed to take meaningful action. The security company they hired appears to serve only as a show of effort, providing no real enforcement. Residents are instructed to call the police, but response times are slow—or officers never arrive at all. Additionally, management is consistently unresponsive to maintenance requests, fails to return calls, and does not answer their so-called emergency line. Their priorities seem limited to protecting their own property and ensuring timely rent collection, with little regard for residents’ safety, well-being, or quality of life. Recommendation: I strongly advise against moving here. The crime is bad and management is untrustworthy, unresponsive, and neglectful of residents’ concerns.Property Manager Responded

Not a good place to live/ poorly maintained
December 12, 2016When I was applying for the apartment, the leasing staff had trouble understanding how BAH for the military works. It took a week and a half to fix a broken water pipe that was the result from them turning off the water in the building in winter to fix a pipe that burst. They never thought to check the pipes on the other floors to see if they were in good condition. It took several maintenance requests and visits to the leasing office to have the problem fixed. The air conditioning unit broke in ...the beginning of the summer, but the maintenance man said the Freon level was low in the unit, so he topped it off. Well the only way for that to be low is for it to either have never been fully filled or there was a leak somewhere. they never checked on it after putting in requests later down the road when the system stopped working again. Maintenance came in to fix the dishwasher, then disappeared for several days once they said they needed a part to fix it, yet during that time I never heard back from them. We had to call the leasing office several times in order to finally get a hold of someone who would actually listen to the issue. Maintenance changed out the washer/dryer combo unit from the apartment across the hall from mine and left the old unit in the hallway for a couple of weeks. August 11, 2015So...I love this place. It's conveniently located to the mall and I can step outside and immediately go for a long run. The price is great and they're very flexible with leasing options. I'd stay there forever if I didn't need to buy a house. I highly recommend it. bershires of columbia comfortable living
July 27, 2015I currently live at the bershires of Columbia. They are located in Howard county off highway 29 south. The Columbia mall is about 5 minutes from my house, also the maryweather pavilion post is close by, including Columbia lake, also great views of this location, any many places to go out and eat and enjoy your family in a peaceful environment.I currently rent a big spacious 3 bedroom apartment, the maintenance on the property is always maintained,the community is great, I never have issues with ...leasing office or neighbors. The apartments are very spacious and my children love where they live..the schools are awesome if you have children, the crime rate is very very low..my 8 year old son has improved dramatically because of the location, his calm environment, and all the wonderful opportunities that's around him..They have the Columbia association where family's can sign up and be apart of the community...I thank god for where I live. I can concentrate on being a parent and live comfortable..my apartment stays clean all the time and I love the fact that most importantly my children are happy..my 4yr old daughter said "this is the best place ever, and my room is like a princess room". Her 8 month old sister is able to crawl around on the floor and be free from dust, dirt, germs..just because we value where We stay by keeping it clean...thanks to my husband. He is so helpful when it comes to our place..overall where I live I recommend to anyone that has a family and want to see their children to experience a calm and happy environment, not forgetting all the wonderful things that Howard county has to offer anyone. .I'm very greatful for where I'm at in my life.
