This building was originally built in the late 19th century as a milk condensation factory operated by The Cornell Bros Milk Co. For over a hundred years, this heavy-duty structure served its industrial purpose in condensing milk from local dairy farms and shipping it down to Chicago via train. In 2023, the building was converted into 38 upscale apartments and was named The Cornell as a nod to its roots in milk distribution. June 19, 2025Terrible place to live. Front doors have been broken forever so I didn't feel very secure living there as anyone could get inside of the building. Apartment manager NEVER responds to you. Find somewhere else to rent.Review from Apartments.com

June 10, 2025landlord is the worst person i’ve ever met. never responds to texts or calls about any issues in the building. i’ve talked to tenants that had unresolved flooding, personally my dishwasher and water heater stopped working and it took a months to even get a response. only way i got a response was if you just happened to run into him in the parking lot. don’t expect anything back from your security deposit. everyone had absolutely bogus charges coming out leaving them with little to nothing left. ...there’s gaps in the walls so expect to pay through the roof on your electric to heat your apartment during the winter. outside doors are constantly broken, one sometimes doesn’t even open all the way sometimes. the locks haven’t worked in ages so anyone can access the building. absolutely not worth the overpriced rent.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com

March 29, 2025My husband and I had a terrible time living here. The landlord is completely unprofessional and disrespectful. He does not respond to complaints, and when we decided to leave he was incredibly rude and beyond disrespectful to both of us. The apartments were cheaply constructed, the building has many electrical issues, there is mold, and the water quality is awful. DO NOT LIVE HERE. Every tenant we talked to before leaving had their own issues, I’m surprised there aren’t more negative reviews.Review from Apartments.com
