Reasonable Rent But With Issues
May 8, 2026 - Review from Apartments.comI've lived at Gentry's Landing since 2023. Until this year (2026) I'd rate it as "excellent" in all major aspects of apartment living. First the pluses. The rent's reasonable for downtown St. Louis and considering how old it is (built in 1965) it's still pretty nice. The maintenance men are very good and have their hands full in handling major issues (such as plumbing) but usually quickly respond to individual tenant problems. Because of its age, it requires a lot of effort and money for its ...upkeep and until recently, it seemed the owners spent what it took to maintain things. Now the minuses. One major problem is one or more of the elevators constantly break down and are out of service (one has been non-functioning for most of this year). Gentry's said last year that they were getting new ones, but only the flooring has been replaced, which looks nice but does nothing to solve the mechanical issues. The elevator repairmen have been here quite a bit, but there's a limit to what they can do with such out-of-date systems and the last I heard was that they gave up on one of them. The others are slow to come to the floors (good luck during morning rush hour-a lot of times when one stops on my floor it's packed to capacity and I can't get on). They now "hope" to replace them next year but I'll believe it when I see it. The hallways on each floor are now hit and miss. The hallway walls on my floor are dingy with many scrapes, stray marks and discoloration and many of the ceiling panels are water stained. Gentry's has two painters and I think it'd be possible for them to take a few days just to do some touch-up work, but apparently not. Several months ago, it was announced that carpets on each floor were to be replaced (that project has stopped after just several were done). The leasing staff sends out emails and posts messages when these projects start, but when they suddenly stop, there's total silence and if a tenant follows up, the story will vary as to why. Until about a month ago, Gentry's lobby attendants would log in packages and put a notice in tenants mailboxes that a package had been delivered, and lock them up until it was claimed. Now they no longer do that after putting in an Amazon hub. It's supposed to be locked 24/7 but has always been unlocked when I've gone there.Read MoreProperty Manager Responded
June 2, 2026Thank you for taking the time to provide detailed feedback and for being a resident since 2023. We truly appreciate your recognition of our maintenance team and the effort that goes into maintaining a historic high-rise property like Gentry’s Landing. We understand the frustration surrounding the elevators, and we agree this has been one of the building’s biggest challenges. Elevator modernization planning and preparation began in late 2024, and installation of all-new elevator equipment, including hoists, controllers, and upgraded cab interiors, is scheduled to begin in mid-June. While ongoing repairs have helped keep service operational, we recognize the limitations of maintaining legacy systems and look forward to delivering long-term improvements in reliability and performance. The project will be completed in phases as work progresses through the elevator system. Several additional improvement projects are also actively underway throughout the property. Hallway carpet replacement ...has already been completed on 10 floors, with additional floors scheduled as work continues in phases. We are also excited to reopen the renovated pool area for residents over Memorial Day weekend. Regarding the package room, the new system has only been operational for a couple of weeks, and we are continuing to make adjustments and improvements during the transition. As more residents enroll in the locker system and delivery drivers become familiar with the new process, we expect the overall experience and security of the package room to continue improving. We appreciate your patience as these projects move forward and thank you again for your feedback and residency at Gentry’s Landing.
Great Experience at The Gentry's Landing
October 26, 2025 - Review from Apartments.comI've been living at The Gentry's Landing for over a year now, and I've had a great experience. First of all, Cara in the leasing office was absolutely amazing during my apartment search. She spent a great deal of time answering all of my questions, and helped to make sure that I found the right apartment in the right building. My unit was in great condition when I moved in, and I've had absolutely no issues whatsoever. I have a beautiful view of The Arch. There's plenty of closet space. I never ...run out of hot water. And there are zero bugs. The building is clean and well-maintained. The staff all work very hard to make it a nice place to live. There is a door attendant 24/7, so the building always feels safe and secure. There is ample garage parking, and I never have to worry about finding a space. I love being able to just walk out the door and take a stroll through The Arch park or eat at any of the nearby restaurants. I would highly recommend The Gentry's Landing to anyone looking for an apartment in downtown St. Louis.Read More

Maintenance is out quick for repairs. Management upgrades and repairs the building as needed. Balconies are BIG. Utilities aren’t because the windows are well sealed and building is insulated. Public transit’s nearby so are a few corner shops, a Schnucks, some food places, a movie theater, urgent care, dentists. Gets noisy when there’s a sportball or ...people drive crazy down 4th or the highway. Rent was stable until a few years ago. Goes up often now. Signed a year lease after they raised it twice in a 6 month span. Increases are because they maintain the place. Elevators and plumbing have issues but are repaired and repairs are communicated.Read More
Leasing office is fantastic!

Anything you ever need - they are there for you to get things done in a timely matter! The maintenance staff was great with getting maintenance requested done very quickly. A couple maintenance staff members made me feel a little uncomfortable but thats a very small aspect of my experience.

She was very attentive to my needs and concerns because I was traveling in from out of state and renting sight unseen. When I arrived she met me with a welcoming smile, took me to my apartment to allow me see it and sign my lease. When I stepped off of the elevator on my floor I was pleasantly surprised at the brightness, cleanliness and decor in the hallway. Love the building. great location to everything that is downtown. we are about 2.5 blocks from the arch. and there is a small grocery about 2.5 blocks east from the apartment. you can walk everywhere. the metro is right around the corner. We got the 2/2 city view and it is great. love the floor plan. big windows in the living room with the lights out at night it is beautiful to look out over the city. the dining room has a great view too. only down ...fall i would say is that the laundry room is small for the building. they need to take the exercise room out from down there and put in more washers and dryers. that would be the only bad thing. other then that it is all me and my partner could ask for.Read More

I have never had any issues with noise and the neighbors are friendly and polite. The staff took the time to find me the apartment of my dreams, a 1br convertible with a balcony overlooking the river, Arch grounds and the city. Gentry's Landing is very secure with 24/7 door staff and locked entrances, even my parents approved. The summertime is the best when I can spend hours on the rooftop pool and on my balcony or ...walk a few blocks to a Cardinals game. In the winter, I get enough light that I don't need to use the heat and I save a lot of money on electricity. My one and only complaint .... parking. I knew about it when I moved in, but I never thought it would be this much of an issue for me. Asking someone to come over and pay $20 to park is a quick way to lose friends, so I have to go pick them up from a free parking area each and every time which is a huge hassle. I would probably stay here for many years if the parking wasn't $90 a month and expensive for guests. Overall, my experience has been very positive and I would recommend living here to anyone.Read More

From being greeted by name by the door staff that come to feel like family, security cameras on every floor, on-site laundry and fitness facilities, rooftop pool and sauna, secure parking garage and newly renovated (and amazingly affordable apartments), it is not about why you should live at Gentry's but rather, why not?! When I started my search for an apartment, I was overwhelmed. On my budget, I was met with extremely small, ...unsafe and income limited apartments. I called Gentry's to schedule an appointment to see some of their available units and not only did they get me in that day but they also stayed late to accommodate my schedule. After showing me numerous layouts and views, I was amazed at the size of their apartments for the price!! I was so excited to not only find a newly renovated apartment that I could afford but also one with as many amenities as Gentry's offers. I moved into Gentry's just over 1 week later. My arch & river view apartment was spotless and ready to make my own on the day I moved in. I woke up the next day and I couldn't have been more at home. Everyone on the amazing staff at Gentry's seemed to know my name and went above and beyond to make me comfortable. The door attendants check in all packages and they are stored away until you pick them up. The main door is secure and all guests have to be cleared by the front desk before they are allowed up. As a single woman living in the city, between that and the numerous security cameras on every floor I felt very safe. Young and old and from all over the world, the building tenants are as diverse as you could ever imagine and in such a large building, you will not believe how fast you get to know everyone and how quickly they start to feel like family. It is so easy to feel alone in the city and at Gentry's a simple elevator ride to the Lobby will take all of that away. However, obviously being downtown space is a factor, and there is only so much one can do with 1300 sq. ft! But the rent per size ratio certainly beats downtown LA or Manhattan living prices. Bathrooms are small and units are not washer/dryer equipped but there is ...a laundry facility on premises which allows you to meet your neighbors.
