I moved to the Holston in June; it is secure, clean and new. They regularly host resident events which I attend and enjoy.
Unfortunately, I relied on marketing representations made on multiple websites and verbally during the tour that stated this building has a heated year-round pool. I selected a unit directly over the pool and planned to swim most mornings. I factored this unique amenity into my cost analysis and sacrificed on proximity to downtown and walkability to be in a building with ...
a year round heated pool. Much to my disappointment the pool is not heated! It is too cold to get in until late in the day in the summer; the building blocks the sun from hitting the pool until later in the afternoon.
Management stated after I requested the heat be turned on that it is off per the preference of the residents, and all amenities are subject to change at their discretion. However, since moving in and finding out the pool wasn't heated, I overheard staff continuing to tell prospects the pool was heated year round. Management has changed the Holston website to state the pool is seasonally heated. However, the website for the neighborhood, The Weld, continues to represent the pool is heated year round.
Thus, do not rely on what they tell you or what is on the website if you are thinking of moving here. Double check to make sure the feature and amentities that you care about are as represented.
