Mold in the air vents
August 14, 2022 - Review from Apartments.comDo not live here if you are concerned with your health! Mold in the air vents! A couple of months after moving in, I began to develop some severe allergies and wheezing. After checking the air ducts I discovered a copious amount of mold. I quickly alerted management and maintenance and the maintenance worker tried to gaslight me into believing it was residue from burning candles. After this I purchased a mold kit and bingo you got it, mold was confirmed. I alerted management again and they told ...me they "take mold very seriously" and sent a professional to assess if and how much mold there was. The professional agreed that it was a lot of mold and it could definitely impact breathing and health. Despite this, it took over two weeks and multiple threats to get management to hire professionals to come out and clean the ducts. The management representative even tried to tell me that the mold found in my apartment is common outside! Wow! What a relief! In addition to the mold, I submitted multiple complaints about my neighbors smoking marijuana nonstop in the apartment. My apartment shared a vent with theirs and it reeked. Management never took any action, despite the fact, that there is a no-smoking policy. The icing on the cake is they took a massive amount out of my security deposit despite the fact it was cleaner when I left than when I moved in (when I moved in there was mold in the washing machine)! If you value your health and well-being do not live here. Management is rude, the apartments are outdated, and there is mold. If you must live here, proceed with caution.Read More

The property manager appears to be nice until you move out and they want to make commission off your deposit. If you decide to move here, keep documentation and voicemails. We assure you that all apartments are fairly inspected at move out and residents are only charged for necessary cleaning and damages. We do not distribute any commission from security deposit withholding's. Charges after move out are strictly to pay for cleaning and damages. If you see any discrepancies on your security deposit disposition, please feel free to contact the leasing office at your convenience!

I'm new to Charlottesville so I was very nervous on where to rent from. I wasn't familiar with the area or to know whether or not it was a safe complex, I've never had any issues whatsoever. Having lived on my own since I was 18 I have stayed in my fair share of apartment complexes and I can honestly say, again, that the staff here and management team, is ...definitely top notch!
