Quiet place for singles or grad students

I moved into this apartment a week ago and have been pleasantly surprised.
Building: The building is old, and like most old buildings, has its creaks and crumbles. It is pretty well taken care of, though. The maintenance has come out to fix any problems pretty quickly, and seem to keep the complex in decent shape. I also have hardly seen any bugs (maybe 2 or 3 ants), which is great. The room wasn't spotless when I moved in, but not gross either. I had to clean a little, but it wasn't more than ...
an a few hours. Also keep in mind there is no A/C here, and the windows are sliding (don't fit standard window A/Cs).
Safety: Entryways are inside, which makes the building feel safer. The complex is also pretty quiet - I've hardly noticed my neighbors at all. The building is all studios and 1 bedrooms, so tenants seem to be mostly grad students or 20s/30s singles. I'm living here as a single female, and haven't felt uncomfortable.
Neighborhood: Squirrel Hill is a neat place to live. It has a large Jewish population, but there are lots of grad and foreign students around too. This complex is a few blocks over from the main shops/restaurants on Murray and Forbes, but it's kinda nice because it cuts down on traffic/noise. Watch out for parking throughout all of SH though - it's mostly street. This complex has a small lot in the back, but it is very small and tight, so I've found it easier to just parallel on the street (even if it's far up the street).
Overall, this isn't a bad place to be. You really can't beat the price for being in SH. It's not luxurious or anything, but it's safe and cheap.
