It's great to have an apartment in Austin, because you're never far from some fresh live music. The toughest part of the experience is not finding a place that plays live music, but instead trying to decide which of the man venues is best for you. If you're a fan of cool, live jazz, then you can't do much better than the Elephant Room, one of the top Jazz Clubs not just in Austin, but in the entire country. If you're a fan of jazz, you'll have a hard time beating the experience that a night at the Elephant Room will give you. For years, the Elephant Room has garnered critical praise from around the country. In USA Today, jazz great Wynton Marsalis ranked The Elephant Room in his list of the top ten greatest jazz clubs in the US, and Downbeat Magazine called it one of the Top 50 Jazz Venues in the Nation. It's also the only club in Texas to have won the honor of appearing on either of those lists. With such high praise flying around, it's an obvious choice for a fun night of awesome jazz. Almost every you'll find a different band playing, from locals favorites to national legends, and the crowd is always high on energy. Nothing goes better with an evening of cool music than a cold drink, and The Elephant Room delivers on that front as well. The Elephant Room has a full bar, with over 20 different Drafts and an extensive wine list. The wait staff is friendly, and the bar tenders really know how to mix a great drink. The place my not be much to look at, and the walk down into the dark cellar may be a bit frightening for some, but as soon as the music flares up, you'll be in for the long haul.
