So you' have an apartment in Austin, and you're impressed by all the live music venues, dance clubs and bars, but where do you go when you want to find something a bit harder. For those metal heads out there, there's no place better to hang out and enjoy a rockin' good time than The Back Room. The Back Room used to famous for its Heavy Metal concerts, which reverberated around the riverside area for quite a few years, but in recent years the venue has disappeared, the club has turned into something different entirely. Instead of a live music venue, the location has transformed into a sports bar, complete with pool tables, darts and other games you could expect. You couldn't expect the metal to die, however. There's still plenty of hard stuff ripping from the jukebox, and the crowd is still a nice collection metal heads, bikers and other rocker types. Be warned that this is not a bar for those not into metal, rock or punk. The crowd here is hard, raucous and tough, and if you come into the place with your usual downtown bar in town, you'll be sure to not have a great time. Still, if hanging out with some rough-and-tumbles, while playing some pool and listening to some hard music from the sound system, then this is just the spot for you. It may not be the rocking spot it was in its glory days, but if you're a fan of metal, rock or punk and are looking for a good hole-in-the-wall to hang out with other punks and metalheads, then you're be hard-pressed to find a better bar in Austin to meet your needs.
