Austin apartment living is so entertaining partly because you're surrounded by delicious restaurants and clubs, so the question on any night out is just where to go. Why not choose one of Austin's most famous institutions, Las Manitas Avenue Café, with its delicious Mexican food, and great lunch specials, one of the most popular spots along Congress Avenue. Crowds file into this place like mad, and it's to see why this has become one of the most popular locations in Austin. The atmosphere of this place just breathes Austin. The place is full of cozy booths, and the walls are lined with colorful artwork, it screams the warm, welcoming atmosphere that Austin is famous for, and the animal masks hanging above proudly proclaim the weirdness which makes Austin famous. It's a great place to take someone from out of town, to give them an idea of just what Austin is all about, as well as having a great meal. Though its lunch and dinner menus may be noteworthy, what really makes Las Manitas the famous landmark it is, is its delicious breakfast menu. Whether it's the traditional juevos rancheros, or more unique flavors such as the central American breakfast, consisting of eggs served over black beans, fried plantains, sour cream, and fresh tacos, or their fresh vegetarian chorizo. What makes the breakfast-goers coming back day after day, however, is the migas. You have your choice of traditional migas, served with black beans and tortillas, or their special Migas Especiales con Hongos, which combines traditional migas mixed in with mushrooms and garlic, and topped with Monterrey jack cheese ranchero sauce. No matter when you come in, you're destined to find something you're sure to love. Las Manitas Avenue Café is a real Austin institution, but some companies are fighting right now to get rid of it, so you might not have a lot more time to discover this Austin treasure. For apartment residents in Austin, it's as much a must-see as 6th street or the Capital, and encapsulates Austin better than almost any restaurant you're likely to come across.
