Apartment-ites in love are a wonderful thing, and Baltimore does everything in its power to cater to these couples, being filled all kinds of romantic restaurants, lounges and clubs to make that special evening something they'll never forget. For a romantic night out, though, no place quite covers it foodwise quite as well as Charleston. Critically acclaimed by both the New York Times and the Washington Post, this Baltimore landmark is a must for anyone wanting an evening of romance, delight, and, of course, delicious food. The ambiance makes it perfect, with chandeliers and light woods, making you feel as if you've stepped into Gone With the Wind. Love is in the air the moment you enter Charleston, and once you take a bite of the food you won't be able to leave your seat. To start off your evening, you can try some of their hot plates, including shellfish bisque, shrimp, ham and grits, Hudson Valley foie grass with quail's egg and brioche toast, or sweet corn, bacon and tasso chowder, or you can try one of their cool dishes, including veal tenderloin carpaccio, wild rockfish ceviche or a salad of fingerling potatoes, Burgundy truffle, and micro celery. Moving on to the entree, there are a number of options. If fish is your thing, you can try the pan-roasted rockfish with fennel, saffron and lobster cream, served with tourneed cucumber, or grilled yellowfin tuna with nicoise olive, basil and arugula relish, along with pommes pailles. If game is more your speed, you can try some grilled ostrich tenderloin with spaghetti squash and golden beets in a cognac sauce, or Pennsylvania venison with haricot verts and red beans and rice in a venison reduction. Of course, there's plenty of delicious beef, like the bacon-wrapped beef tenderloin with black-eyed peas, Hoppin' John and fried green tomatoes, and delicious lamb served with root vegetables and fingerling potatoes, in a lamb reduction. The options are endless at Charleston, but you'd be reading for hours if I had to list them all.
