Scrumptious, delectable and tasty are just a few of the words to describe the incredible food at Chiapparelli's Restaurant in Baltimore's Little Italy district. You probably couldn't make it better yourself in your Baltimore apartment, but this is not a challenge, just an encouragement to discover the best in Italian food. A restaurant in its second generation of ownership, Chiapparelli's is well loved by the locals and visitors to town alike. You will feel comfortable and warmed when you enter the restaurant, from the host or hostess to the server. The brick walls give a feeling of Italy itself, and the gracious and professional service reinforces the mood. The dinner salad is renowned at Chiapparelli's, and the homemade specialties, the veal and local seafood delicacies are worth coming here. Begin your meal with one of their tasty antipasti dishes, such as the antipasto Neapolitan, a colorful selection of mozzarella, prosciutto, capers olives and roasted peppers, drizzled with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Shrimp Nicola and Clams Casino will give you a seafood start, or one of the fried items; fried ravioli, fried mozzarella, fried provolone or fried calamari will tide you over until the next course. Be prepared to indulge here, for this is not the pizza house next to your Baltimore apartment. Pasta, the provision that defines Italian food, is the best here. Their specialty pasta items include Grandma's ravioli, lasagna, manicotti and gnocchi. Fettuccini Alfredo, spaghetti and penne pasta are also available, and you can "create your own" with whole wheat noodles topped with your choice of meatballs, marinara or meat, red or white sauce. Chicken Cacciatore and chicken parmigiana, as well as an assortment of beautifully prepared Pollo dishes are provided. The other meat served here is veal, steak and pork. Uncle Charlie's rib eye is succulent, and the Osso Bucco Harvey veal falls off the bone with tenderness. Roasted Pork Porchetta is cooked perfectly and served with the au jus and risotto rice. All of the seafood, veal, chicken and pasta entrees are served with a signature Chiapparelli's house salad and homemade bread. The restaurant is open Sunday through Thursday, 11:30 am to 9:00 pm, and Fridays and Saturdays they are open until 11 pm, so you don't have to get back too early to your Baltimore apartment.
