"Baton Rouge apartment-ites know that their city in a sea of upscale restaurants and Creole places, but for those seeking something a bit more down home and simple, they may be in for more of a trip. One place offering up delicious food with casual surroundings is George's, a Baton Rouge institution that has kept the customers coming back year after year for their delicious food and friendly service. If you're looking for a place to kick back, relax, and let all your worries fade away as you take in some of the most delicious vittles in the city, a trip out to George's is a must. The food here is pretty basic, with no fancy dressings or garnishes in sight. George's believes in making simple food well, and the result is something astounding. Their burgers, sandwiches and plates make for some of the best eating in the city, even if they aren't covered in Creme Anglais or served with a dollop of caviar. Some of their best sellers are their burgers, in regular or veggie variety, served with bacon, cheese, avocado or mushrooms. Also popular amongst the Baton Rouge apartment-ites are their Po Boys, in a variety of flavors, including chicken filet, pastrami and Swiss, oyster, shrimp, catfish, ham and cheese, burger, and plenty more, and their sandwiches, including the ribeye and Swiss, the chicken filet sandwich, the barbecue beef, chicken fried steak, and even a veggie option. They also have specialty plates, which include hot sausage, chicken fingers, grilled chicken filet, or their steak in six ounce filet or their monster ribeye. They also have great specials, including hearty gumbo, made the old-fashioned Louisiana way, hamburger steak, homemade chili, or Dan's Special, a thirteen-ounce hamburger steak covered in bacon, onions, ham, and cheese and served with french fries. Make sure to finish your meal off with a delicious slice of Mama's pecan pie, the perfect ending to a perfect meal. Fine dining has its place, and is great for a night with the one you love, when you want to feel fancy and elegant. There are times, however, when a Baton Rouge apartment-ite just simply wants to take a load off, grab some delicious food, and eat it in his T-Shirt and jeans, and George's is the perfect place to do just that, where you'll feel like a member of the family the first time you come in, with food as good as Mama used to make.
