The sports fan knows that with the in the Boston area, there are plenty of professional sports teams that New Englander's like to watch while in our out of their Boston apartments and enjoying a pint and some chowder. McGeevy's is the combination of America's first sports bar and an Irish pub, therefore it's meant to be blessed with an excellent atmosphere and great food. The bar was only recently re-opened after 88 years of closure, and redecorated to imitate the original. Designated as a baseball museum in its early years, the "Third Base Saloon" as it was first named in 1894 by "Nuf Ced" McGeevy, is an excellent display of the game, with plenty of wall space designated to baseball greats. Lamps are made from bats, and portraits and pictures adorn the bar and lounge areas. Sports of all kinds can be viewed from 12 HD plasma televisions, upstairs and downstairs, located near three bars, comfy banquettes and lounge seating. A juke-box connected to an excellent surround sound system provides background during the game lulls. This getaway from your apartment provides lots of activity in terms of sports and people watching. An extensive menu features Irish pub food and more Americanized versions of appetizers, salads, soups, and sandwiches. You can also order a delicious Shepherd's Pie, Beer Battered Fish and Chips and an Irish Breakfast, served all day. The brunch menu serves up the typical eggs, waffles and pancakes, along with specialty drinks such as a Chambord Mimosa and a Mad Batter Patron Golden Margarita. Yum. And with an address like 911, if you get into trouble, you know that help can't be far away!
