Exploring the natural world around your Cincinnati apartment can be a fun and interesting experience, but where can folks go to get a real sense of communing with the wildlife around them? One place bustling with all the greatest beasts, birds and bugs is the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden. Everything from penguins to pythons, from elephants to egrets are on display here, as well as plenty of other species of animal to discover. As you roam through the Zoo, you'll be whisked away into steamy rainforests, frozen tundras, or blazing savannahs as explore all the different parts of the world, all without ever straying far from your nice, cozy Cincinnati apartment. The zoo is broken up into separate exhibits, each housing a group of fascinating creatures. The hardest decision won't be trying to find one exhibit that interests you, but instead trying to which exhibit you should begin with. You can take a trip to the P&G Discover Forest to view beautiful blue and gold macaws, toucans, boa constrictors and two-toed sloths, or take a trip over to the Wildlife Canyon to see the strong and fearsome Sumatran Rhinos and other hooved beasts. For fans of our fine feathered friends, there are numerous location to check out beautiful birds, including the Spaulding Lorikeet Lookout, which allows you to get up close and personal with the gorgeous songbirds, or the Wetland Trail and Swan Lake, which lets watch trumpeter swans, mallard and other native wildlife, or, for an even bigger look into the lives of birds, take a trip down the World of Wings, where king penguins, rhinoceros hornbills and other winged things frolic and play. For an even more in-depth look at the penguins, take a trip over to the Penguin Walkabout, which allows you to frolic along with little and African penguins, or take a walk to the Kroger Lord of the Arctic exhibit to discover adorable polar bears. Of course, there some places you can't leave a zoo without checking out. Take a trip out to the Elephant Reserve to learn more about the beautiful Asian pachyderms, feed the funny long-necked beasts at the Giraffe Ridge, discover the world of primates at Jungle Trails, which includes orangutans and bonobos, or the our fabulous ring-tailed friends at the lemur lookout, the always energetic Japanese macaques and snow monkeys of the monkey house, or the ferocious denizens of the Gorilla World. Of course, you also have to check out the Cat House for all its adorable and majestic felines, including leopards, ocelots, Pallas cats and others, as well as Tiger Canyon and Siegfried and Roys' White Lions of Timbavati exhibits. For those looking for something a bit more unusual, try out the World of Insects, where animal such as the bullet ant, leaf-cutter ant and giant walking stick amaze viewers, or the Nocturnal House, where creatures of the night such as the bearcat, the aardvark and the bat call home. This only scratches the surface of the wonders that are to be found at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens, so make sure to take a trip and discover more for yourself. Cincinnati apartment-ites won't find a better place to explore the world of animals, from the furry, to the feathered, to the scaley, and have so much fun doing it.
