Harbison State Forest give Columbia apartment residents miles of hiking, biking and boating excitement every day of the year. There are over 2,000 acres of forest to romp in only nine miles from the heart of Columbia. The pine and hardwood forest make the perfect place for picnicking, swimming, fun in the great outdoors and a little laid back time. It's not all fun and games here though. The Harbison State Forest apartment residents also get plenty of education with a fun twist. They provide many forest presentations and natural resource education as well as presentations on the many recreational activities the park has to offer. The trails offer every skill level so don't fret if your just starting out in the hiking game. There are also plenty of opportunities for canoing and kayaking. All classes and presentations are held at the Harbison Environmental Education Center, a log cabin with over 5,000 square feet of room. Plenty of room for the whole gang at the Columbia apartment community! Picnic at the Eagle Shelter for a little peace and quiet or check out the gazebo and the surrounding meadow after walking down the Discovery Trail. It really is a lovely park for any Columbia apartment resident who just wants to get away from it all.
