First chartered in 1845 in Independence, Texas as a Baptist university, Baylor is the oldest continually run university in the state of Texas. With over 20,000 students attending the University each year, the school is a quality institution for education and advancement. Now located in Waco Texas, the perfect city for apartment residents to further their education, about an hour north of Austin, Baylor takes pride in the facts that students interact closely with Faculty from their first day on the campus and are part of a strong community of Christian Faith. Moreover, Baylor's campus is small enough to minister to the needs of the individual while maintaining a vast community of students and faculty. They offer an excellent academic experience, a vibrant surrounding community in Waco that responds well to the students needs, and an strong presence in the community that can open doors for future jobs or enriching personal and spiritual experiences. Baylor has 8 different schools of study within the university as well as at least 145 majors to choose from. Whether it's liberal arts or sciences degrees, nursing degrees, business and education or more, Baylor gives students plenty of opportunity to be the best they can be. A private school, many students come from affluent, educated backgrounds and leave Baylor even more enriched. This university seeks students who are the best and the brightest, which shows in the fact that an average of 70 % of their incoming Freshmen are in the top 25% of their class. The University doesn't appear to use athletic achievement as a sole basis for admittance. Rather, Baylor evaluates it's applicants by a number of different factors including test scores, GPA, references, essays, Athletic achievement, and more. Being a smaller sized city, Waco is a great place for students to thrive and enjoy life...especially living in their own apartment. With many shops, restaurants, and hot-spots within a few miles of campus, the options to a resident here are virtually limitless. There are a number of apartment communities that cater to the students of Baylor, even giving discounts and providing study groups in their media centers and clubhouses. Those who aren't fortunate enough to live in their own apartment off-campus and others who simply choose to live in the comfort of on campus housing have a number of high quality residence halls and on campus housing communities to choose from. Baylor also has an option of campus run apartment communities which have more privacy and amenities than a traditional dorm, but still maintain the structured residence rules that the halls due. Living off campus, you would find that you will spend roughly the same amount of money on housing and food as you would living on campus, but have more privacy and your own place. Who wants to miss out on that? A Big 12 school, Baylor has an incredible athletics program featuring highly competitive football, basketball, baseball, tennis, softball, and volleyball teams. The immense amount of school spirit and Baylor pride when you go to a Baylor football game and see the see of green and gold. Notably in 2021, Baylor Football won the Big 12 Conference, finishing the season as Number 5 in the nation, while the Men's basketball team won the NCAA Champions. Over the years, the women's NCAA Basketball team has been a perenial Final 4 team and oft a Champion. Strong school spirit, personal student attention, classiness, fun, and scholastic excellence makes Baylor University one of the best schools to attend in the nation and makes it a great way to celebrate the apartment lifestyle through learning.
