The downtown area in Greensboro is one I personally love. It is extremely tidy for a city, and there are plenty of things to see and do. Downtown Greensboro is just north of campus, and you can find apartments along Elm Street that are within walking distance to restaurants and the nightlife that students often enjoy. Some nearby landmarks include First National Bank Field, LeBauer Park, and The Carolina Theatre.

It's good for professionals, older students, and people with families; many faculty members choose to live in this neighborhood. Lindley Park is located near Wendover Avenue and Interstate 40, so it gives you great access into and out of the city. It is also close to the Lindley Park Farmers Market, for those who enjoy buying local goods.

North Carolina A&T State University

North Carolina A&T State University is perhaps best known for its agricultural and engineering programs, and it is the largest historically Black university in the United States. It's east of downtown Greensboro, located off Spring Garden Street and Interstate 40. Guilford College was founded in 1837 and is a small liberal arts school. The campus there is beautiful, with classic brick buildings and streets lined with trees. The 340-acre wooded campus sits along the city's west side; there is plenty of green space for students who enjoy the outdoors.

Friendly Lakes

You'll find Friendly Lakes located near Pisgah Church and Lake Jeanette Road. Here, you're close to Country Park and Battleground Avenue shops and restaurants, making it a nice place to live if you want some walkability and to be close to things you want to do. Friendly Lakes is also close to Highway 220, making it easy to get out of town when necessary.

Adams Farm is located just off Interstate 40, connecting it with easy access outside the area. If you're an outdoorsy person, you may appreciate this area because it is settled into nature. The apartments are often near ponds and walking trails, and you'll also be able to get over to the Wendover Place Shopping Cneter within just about 5 to 10 minutes. Adams Farm is approximately 10 minutes from campus.

You can take Bryan Boulevard to downtown from this area, and it's also close to the Starmount Forest Country Club, if you're hoping to join a country club in Greensboro.

Bennett College

Interestingly, Bennett College is a private women's college. Located in the center of Greensboro, it has a strong history of supporting women. Downtown Greensboro is a very cool area of the city. There, you have bodegas and theaters, parks and other fun hubs for students. Greensboro Cultural Center is one of my favorite places to go in the city. If you live here, you'll be close to Bennett and A&T, but, realistically, any college is only a short 5 to 20-minute drive from this area.

Greensboro College

Greensboro College is a small, private college located next to the UNCG. It has a charming campus and is located close to many of the things students enjoy doing, like going to the shops on Tate Street. There is easy downtown access from this area, and it's simple to catch a bus to go anywhere in the city. This is a centralized location, positioning you well for life during and after college (if you choose to stay in the area).

Fisher Park is very close to Interstate 40 Business Route, which means it's good if you have to work and attend school. It is also a quiet area, which makes it popular among faculty and students alike.
