Fruit and Spice Park apartment dwellers won't leave the park hungry unless they are just not the healthy eater. The Fruit and Spice Park presents over 500 varieties of rare fruits, nuts, herbs and spices from worldwide locations, yet they are all grown here for residents of Miami apartments. You may not know that there are over 80 types of bananas, 40 of grapes and 50 types of mangoes that are all produced at this amazing park. Here's what the subtropical park offers people from Fruit and Spice Park apartments. Not only can you wander through banana groves and African orchards featuring plant varieties with names like Jaboticaba, Mangosteen and Fiji Longan, but you may also sample any fallen specimens. Mind you, visitors are not allowed to pick fruit off of trees or vines and take them back to their Miami apartments. If you come at the right time of day on the right day of the week, however, you can capitalize on the fruit that's dropped from the trees. You don't have to scrounge for all your tastings, of course, as the park features a tasting table at the welcome center. Historic buildings dot the landscape on this 37 acre park, and a gift shop sells dried and canned fruit, juices, jams, jellies and cookbooks. Gardening books that you can use when you move out of your Miami apartment into a home with a garden are available as well. Classes, workshops and botanical tours are offered on a regular basis to residents of Fruit and Spice Park apartments. As long as you live in the Miami area, you should make a visit. The park is only $7 for adult admission, with hours 9 am to 5 pm, and is open seven days a week except for Christmas day.
