While most Apartment-ites are completely at home in a comfortable one bedroom space, even the 'studio apartment is fine for me' among us at one point or another feel the need to go big. Well, those in the Houston area know that big is what Gringo's Mexican Kitchen is all about. They are, after all, home of the Cadillac Margarita! And we do mean big. Feeling hungry? Then dive into the Juan Jalisco platter, an enormous feast-for-one (so they claim) comprised of Baja BBQ ribs, a pair of beef enchiladas smothered in jack blend cheese and chili con carne, dueling chicken and beef empanadas, sides of Mexican rice and Andouille boracho beans, all doused in their trademark Amazon sauce. If that's not enough, the brave are encouraged to take Gringo's personal dare to try the Plato Tia-Juana, a veritable anything-goes plate covered in tacos, tamales, enchiladas, rice, fresh guacamole and sour cream. Decorated in an old west style that a name such as Gringo's demands, visitors can still prepare for hospitality of the highest order. Where else can one expect to top off an order of southwest eggrolls (a specialty!) with a free order of soft serve ice cream on your way out before heading back to the apartment? So the next time you're feeling big, give your old Gringo a visit, but be careful - given the generous portions and awe-inspiring menu options, it's easy to blur that fine line between going large and becoming huge.
