Though the big city hold a lot of interesting and fantastic choices for eateries, sometimes one has to travel farther from their Indianapolis apartment to find the best food in town. Located out in Fisher, Indiana, there lies one of the best keep secrets around town, the Loon Lake Lodge. The restaurant is an eatery like no other, and once you step through those doors, be prepared to have an experience you won't soon forget. Roaring fire places, starry skies overhead, and moving, growling animatronic animals await you, along with some of the best rustic food in town. Though it may not have the elegant feel of some of the bigger restaurants downtown, the Loon Lake Lodge creates an eating experience you find anywhere else. Of course, it's not just the atmosphere that keeps fans coming from near and far. The food keeps the rustic feel of its surroundings, with food just as enjoyable as the surroundings. Start your meal with traditionals favorites such as blue crab cake, grilled shrimp skewers, spicy chicken tenders, or Johnathan's buffalo wings, or try something completely different, such as their sweet corn dipping fries, seasoned elk medallions, with horseradish cream sauce, or rattlesnake bites, made with pieces of real rattlesnake With starters like this, you know if you're a wild night. Their menu of entree items is quite extensive, with numerous sections with every kind of food an Indianapolis apartment-ite could want. The best dishes, however, House Specialties menu, which includes hickory smoked barbecue ribs, with mashed potatoes, Elk New York Strip Loin, marinated in olive oil with tarragon, thyme and rosemary, and laced with raspberry peppercorn sauce, American bison meatloaf with mashed potatoes and a wild mushroom gravy and caramelized onions, and their roasted pork loin, drizzled with sweet and sour sauce and served with mashed potatoes. Other impressive entrees include their roasted pheasant with wild rice in a red pepper creme sauce, duck stuffed with dried cherries, wild rice and capirotada, in a wild mushroom creme sauce and mashed potatoes, and their Alaskan king crab, with wild rice. There's something to please any pallet at this rustic, but upscale eatery. A meal at the Loon Lake Lodge is like none other in the city, and it is a fun and delicious way to take a break from life in your Indianapolis apartment and enjoy the rustic feel of the great outdoors, with original and delectable dishes from top chefs, combining fantastic flavors and a stunning ambiance to create an experience you won't soon forget.
