Since San Diego is situated on the beautiful Pacific Ocean, it is only appropriate to visit the beach, at least occasionally, unless you are a boogie board buff or a surfer, which means much more often. A great adventure for locals is to get out of your apartments in San Diego and check out ALL the beaches in the San Diego area, whether to take a walk, a look at the beauty of the scenery, or to surf or scuba. Heck, if you really, really spend a lot of time at the beach, perhaps finding a new home in one of the many San Diego apartments near La Jolla Shores is for you! La Jolla shores is a gorgeous location, maybe one of the most beautiful in San Diego. With clean, white beaches, large grassy areas with picnic tables for gathering, a playground, restrooms and beautiful tall palm trees, it has a lot to offer. Spread out a blanket and read a book or have a picnic, take a dip into the water, surf when the waves are great and just body surf when they are light. Located in the affluent community of La Jolla, the tax base itself helps to keep the area parks clean and updated. Surrounding the beach area are prestigious shops, art galleries and restaurants, as well as fine car auto dealerships. In addition, facilities for renting a bicycle or other sporting equipment, or buying lunch or a swimsuit are readily available. At the north part of the beach is La Jolla Cove, another park with similar amenities including public pavilions on the grassy areas, but a much smaller beach area. At the Cove, no boogie boards, surf boards or fishing is allowed. The Cove is an excellent location, however, to play in the water with children, as it is protected from the open ocean because of the cove. Many divers enjoy snorkeling and scuba diving there to view the beautiful and bountiful bright orange Garibaldi fish. While you're in La Jolla, make sure you check out Seal Rock where you can sometimes see close to one hundred California Grey Seals lounging and playing in the cove and on the rocks. A crecsent-shaped walkway allows you to venture out near the waves (and they are more mighty here) to observe the seals more closely. The beaches are the destination, and the surrounding area of shopping and eating enhances the visit to La Jolla Shores.
