With all the flash and dazzle of Las Vegas, many people can forget all the natural beauty to be found within the city just a few miles from your apartment. One important landmark for anyone wanting to get the full experience of life in Las Vegas is Red Rock Canyon. From here you can check out the natural gorgeousness of the Mojave desert, and get a better look at the critters that call this wide open space home. For those wanting to leave the noise and flashing lights of the strip behind, Red Rock Canyon provides a pleasant escape for nature lovers of just fans of peace and quiet. There are numerous areas in the canyon to check out, first all being the canyon itself. The easiest way to take it all in is to take the 13-mile loop, which features plenty of breathtaking views, overlooks and other sightseeing opportunities, but if you have less time, you can always stop at the Calico Viewpoints to get a good view of the whole canyon and the brilliance of the desert below. There are also numerous hiking trails, and plenty of places just perfect for mountain climbing. If you want to grab a bite after a long hike, there are plenty of place set for picnicking with friends and family. When you say Las Vegas, most people think crap tables and the lights of the strip, but close by apartment-ites can take in one of the most beautiful pieces of geology in the Southern US, and have some good fun while you do it.
