Myrtle Beach Art Museum apartment dwellers have a bevy of lovely art in their "front yard" at the Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum. Myrtle Beach apartment dwellers have both permanent collections and traveling collections to peruse as often as they want, for admission to the museum is free. The humble museum houses two permanent collections, the Waccamaw Arts and Crafts Guild (WACG) Collection, regionally significant, and the Bishop Collection of Antique Maps and Prints. The WACG Collection is of significance to residents of Myrtle Beach apartments because all of the art was collected from regional artists from 1970 to 1980 and some of them have gone on to make quite a name for themselves in the art world. The art is varied in its themes and styles. The Bishop Collection is thirty antiquated maps of the Carolinas dating from 1606 to 1863, as well as historic prints from the civil war and other times of regional interest to people who live in Myrtle Beach Art Museum apartments. The vision of the Myrtle Beach Art Museum is to enrich the lives of the community, including apartment dwellers, through unique exhibitions and interactive, educational and creative programs for Myrtle Beach apartment residents of all ages. Please note that the permanent collections of regional art, maps and prints is not on exhibit at all times unless noted on their website. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm and on Sundays from 1-4 pm. Donations are welcomed.
