Sushi in abundance can be found at the Ninja Restaurant, with so many varieties that if you love sushi, it's definitely a recommended restaurant, and one that many Crescent City locals love to eat at. You may want to show off by eating a Volcano Roll or a Godzilla Roll for your new found friend from your New Orleans apartment, but grilled teriyaki options, donburi (rice topped with fish or meat) and noodle dishes as well as tempura are available, should you or your guest decide to try something different from sushi for the meal. The 10 page (yes, that's ten pages) menu almost deserves a look online to decide what you'd like for dinner in advance, unless you want to have a leisurely meal and spend fifteen minutes perusing the menu, or already know what you want. A full page of appetizers offers shrimp, vegetable, chicken and squid tempura, Yakiniku (sautéed beef and veggies in garlic sauce), fried tofu and grilled yellowtail neck, among other delicious varieties. You can even have sushi and an appetizer meal with a salad or soup, to get a taste of the restaurant without ordering an entrée. Fourteen salads, mostly seafood, and five soups are offered. It's a great place for a New Orleans apartment-ite that loves sushi and Japanese food to visit often. The entrée selection is wide and varied, with the typical Oriental offerings of beef and chicken teriyaki, tempura-fried specialties, fish, and even eel. All entrees are served with Miso soup, salad and rice. Combination dinners exist for those of us who are less decisive and a beautiful selection of noodle dishes with meat and fish and of the vegetarian variety are there for your choosing. The house special rolls are something to try for sure, with the Volcano Roll as a great temptation. Tuna, shrimp, crab, eel, veggies, cream cheese, sauces and tempura on top mark this excellent roll. It's $14.95, but well worth it with a Japanese beer like Kirin Light, plum wine or even sake, of which they have several varieties by the glass or bottle. If you prefer vegetarian, try the Godzilla Roll, with seaweed salad and spicy vegetables. There are nearly fifty rolls to choose from, and so many great options, so come hungry. Ninja is a great place for lunch, with almost every filling meal under ten bucks, and a sushi combo meal for under twenty. Open for over 15 years, the Ninja Restaurant will fill your craving for sushi, and sushi with quality and great taste. Stop by on your way home from work to your New Orleans apartment someday soon. Ninja is closed on Mondays.
