Orlando apartment dwellers, look no farther for the best oysters in town. If you aren't afraid of new experiences and couldn't care less about atmosphere, Lee & Ricks Oyster Bar is where the magic is. Opened in 1950, this family-owned eatery is known as the only place to eat fresh oysters in town. Back in the day, Lee and Rick served oysters out of the front, and raised their family in the back of the building. Now the restaurant is run by their eldest son. This place has been around longer than Disney World, so you aren't a true Orlando apartment dwelling resident until you have had a bucket of raw (or steamed) oysters fresh from Appalachicola. Sure, the outside ship façade is rough and weathered, but so are the shells of the delicious oysters they sell. The 80-foot cement bar gives you a great view as they shuck your preferred oyster order (talk about fresh). The best part? Once you've slurped down that little guy, throw your empty shells over the counter into the trash. This is the ultimate in beer drinking, oyster eating, down home fun. They have expanded to serve other seafood such as fried shrimp and crab cakes, which will please just as much as the oysters. Lee & Ricks is definitely a simple, charming place which really hasn't changed much since it opened. It's time to grab your car keys, lock that apartment door, and head down to this popular local favorite.
