Pontiac, MI Local Guide

Explore Pontiac
There are plenty of upscale options in Detroit, but sometimes apartment-ites get tired of the lace table cloths and candle light, and want something a bit more rustic and down-to-earth. Never you fear, apartment residents, The Moose Preserve has just what you need: delicious steaks, ribs and seafood, with all the delicious tastes and service of an upscale restaurant, with the homey surroundings of a local café. Whether you want a stylish dinner with business associates, or a quick beer with the boys, The Moose Preserve has you covered. The Moose Preserves prides itself on its 100 percent black angus beef steaks, and once you take a bite, you'll understand why. Each steak is cooked made-to-order and cooked to perfection, just like you like it, and served up in a number of different ways, from the traditional dry-aged filet mignon and rib-eye, to the encrusted top sirloin, covered in breadcrumbs and soaked in blue cheese and a whiskey peppercorn sauce. If that's not quite to your liking, try out their signature Jack Daniel barbecue ribs, tender as can be and steamed until perfect. They also have an entire section of their menu devoted to wild game, including venison brochette, venison wrapped in bacon skewered with onions and mushrooms, served with corn and wild rice casserole, buffaloaf, buffalo meatloaf served on white bread, covered in buffalo gravy, onions and mushrooms, or, for the very adventurous, you can try the Road Kill Grill, with roast venison, broiled quail and wild boar sausage with Michigan game gravy, to give you a real taste of real Michigan wildlife. There are a number of options for your meal at The Moose Preserve, but make sure to save room for some of their desserts. The Moose Preserve has won several awards for their homemade chocolate chip cookies, made from scratch, just like mom used to make, served in as a whole platter, perfect for sharing. If you're looking for something a little more natural, try the wildberry shortcake, a fresh blueberry muffin topped with strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries, vanilla ice cream and whipped cream, or, for those wanting to try something a bit different, try the Porcupine Mountain, with French vanilla ice cream, fudge brownie, Spanish peanuts, and whipped cream, filled with pretzel stick quills. No matter what you're in the mood for, the Preserve is a great place to indulge your sweet tooth. Apartment-ites looking for a delicious steak, or some wild game, need only take a trip down to one of Detroit's biggest hot spot, The Moose Preserve, where the best in steaks and some award-winning cookies keep the patrons coming in hordes.
