Further South Orange abuts South Mountain Reservation, which is a mountainous forest preserve designed by Olmstead, the man who also designed Central Park. There are great hiking trails throughout the reservation, with waterfalls, streams, cliffs and incredible views of New York on the top of the mountain. Deer often come into South Orange to forage, the trees are full of birds, including birds of prey, and even bald eagles.
