"Located on a beautiful 550 acre campus, the University of Houston has become a premier institution for Apartment-ites in the city of Houston. Campus improvements and renovations over the years have allowed for U of H to offer enough amenities and high-tech facilities to compete educationally with any university in the country making a great place to educate your self while living in your Houston Apartment. Founded in 1927 the university opened its first permanent building in 1934 and has continued to grow each year with enrollment now reaching 35,000 students. The cities multicultural population has transformed the university into one of the most diverse institutions in America, educating all ethnicity's from countries around the world. Adopted in 1947 U of H's cougar mascot named Shasta has become a rich tradition associated with the university and can be seen entertaining the student body at various campus events. The University of Houston offers programs and degrees that rank among the nation's best. Offering over a hundred majors and minors, two hundred graduate degree programs and over 40 doctorates students have a wide array of options to choose from. Some highly ranked graduate programs include, Clinical Psychology and Kinesiology ranked in the nations top 20 and its Creative Writing program is ranked number 2 in the nation. Other examples of masters courses include, Political Science, Public Administration, Spanish, Sociology and Technology Project Management. A few of the many doctorate options include, Aerospace Engineering, Biochemistry, Economics, Education and Computer Science. Because the Houston area has a vast number of awesome apartments near the University of Houston campus, students are not required by the university to stay on campus. If students choose to live on-campus, the University of Houston has many options to choose from when it comes to finding the dorm that fits a students needs. Upper class-men and graduate students looking for more apartment style living have the option to also reside in on-campus apartments if they so choose. All in all, the most fun and free way to experience college is to have your own off-campus apartment! Many students choose to find their own accommodations besides what is offered at the university due to wanting more space, privacy and freedom.
