Tulsa’s Turner Park neighborhood is situated east of the University of Tulsa, which ranks among the nation’s top 100 research universities. It also offers terrific Division I sports, including an exciting football team and NCAA basketball. The neighborhood also is close to historic Route 66, which makes it very easy to get your kicks on Route 66.
The Turner Park neighborhood offers a mix of family homes and Tulsa apartments near the University of Tulsa. It’s where many retirees have chosen to call home. I especially love dining at Tally’s Good Food Café, which is located in the neighborhood’s southeastern corner.
Will Rogers High School is located within the neighborhood’s boundaries, which ensures local families can count on their kids having access to a good grade school education. The Interstate 244 loop runs along the neighborhood’s northern end, so it is very easy to drive around the greater Tulsa area.

The Fair Heights neighborhood also is very close to the University of Tulsa and offers older, traditionally styled homes and apartments that are available in many sizes. It’s a good area to consider renting a house with other students to ensure you have a good home without spending too much on rent. Walmart, Target, and other stores are located within walking distance, and there are lots of great dining options for when you want to eat out or order some takeout food.
The neighborhood is located directly south of Route 66 and has many older homes, plus apartments ideal for renting student apartments that are only a couple of minutes away from the Tulsa campus. Downtown Tulsa is less than 10 miles from the neighborhood and easy to get to when taking Route 66.

Tulsa’s Kendall-Whittier neighborhood is considered to be the city’s unofficial brewery district, where craft beer lovers can enjoy their favorite pours. The Tulsa Farmers Market is situated within the neighborhood’s boundaries, so it is easy to get quality fresh food for affordable prices. If you love street tacos and great Mexican food, the neighborhood also is Tulsa’s hub for the local Hispanic community.
Interstate 244 passes through the Kendall-Whittier neighborhood, which makes it easy to go to Oral Roberts University and other area colleges and schools. The University of Tulsa is about a mile away to the south, so the commute there always is quick and easy.
Murdock
The Murdock neighborhood in Tulsa is situated between Route 66 to its north and Route 64 to its south. You can drive to the University of Tulsa campus in five minutes or less, and it supports pedestrians who prefer to walk or ride bikes to the campus. The Downtown Tulsa business district is a couple of miles east of the Murdock neighborhood and offers excellent shopping, dining, and recreational activities. You also can find relatively affordable Tulsa apartments near the University of Tulsa.

The Woodcrest neighborhood in Tulsa is a quiet residential area that is located very close to Oral Roberts University. The neighborhood features many mature shade trees that make hot summer days cooler and deliver terrific color each fall. The Woodcrest neighborhood is situated less than a mile north of the university, so it’s very easy to commute by walking, riding a bike, or driving to classes.
Spruce Pointe
The Spruce Pointe neighborhood offers great student apartments for those attending the private Oral Roberts University. The neighborhood is directly north of the Oral Roberts campus, which is less than 5 miles away. Its location makes the neighborhood ideally suited for student commuters.
Spruce Pointe also is very close to Fred Creek and the eastern bank of the Arkansas River. I love fishing and kayaking, both of which the river supports very well. And there are some reservoirs within about a 30-minute drive. There are plenty of shopping and dining opportunities close by, and you can get to Downtown Tulsa very easily using local roads.
Southridge Estate
The Southridge Estate neighborhood in Tulsa is a family-friendly community that has many great homes and high-quality schools, medical facilities, and shopping. The neighborhood is located about 2 miles east of Oral Roberts University and is where many university staff and faculty live year-round. The Southridge Estate neighborhood offers many quality student apartments for those attending Oral Roberts, and Downtown Tulsa is only about 10 miles to the northwest. Local roads and highways make it very easy to go downtown and enjoy all that it has to offer.

The Riverview neighborhood in Tulsa is a solidly middle-class community, so it has a lot of good student apartments available. Many Riverview apartments near the Tulsa Community College Metro campus offer terrific views of the Arkansas River to the west. Tulsa’s East Village District has lots of shopping, dining, and entertainment options for students who choose to live there while studying at the community college’s Metro campus. The neighborhood abuts the community college’s campus to the south, and Route 75 runs along its eastern border. The proximity to Route 75 makes the East Village District neighborhood perfectly suited for accessing the Tulsa Community College’s Metro campus by car. You also could go on foot, riding a bicycle, or using a similar conveyance because the college is only a mile or so away.
