Late night, cheap eats can be found here at the Amsterdam Falafelshop. And these are not the only benefits of this tasty shop in the Adams Morgan area of DC, right in the thick of fancier restaurants, nightclubs and bars. So before heading home to your apartment after partying, stop by this fast food shop for a quick salty snack and a sweet treat. The owners of Amsterdam Falafelshop, after visiting friends in Amsterdam, decided that DC needed something as healthy and delicious as falafel and twice-fried fries for late night. So the restaurant idea was born. This is a simple restaurant with a simple menu, but oh so wonderful. Here's the menu: Top-it-yourself-falafels in pita, fries (fried twice, Dutch style) and Brownies. First, let's define Middle Eastern falafel. It is mashed chickpeas flavored with garlic, coriander, cumin and parsley, shaped into a ball and fried for a crispy crunch. Three or five falafel are placed in a pita pocket with a choice of nearly 20 toppings such as shredded beets and cabbage, and a wide array of sauces, and pickles. Decorate to your heart's delight from the garnish bar for your own special concoction. In addition to this, a superb selection of dressings for your fries are available, including traditional Dutch mayo, homemade peanut saus, malt vinegar, Old Bay seasoning and the classic ketchup. The brownies are a super dessert, and good sized for your enjoyment. Eat at Amsterdam Falafelshop from lunch to late-night, 11-midnight Sunday and Monday, until 2:30 am on Tuesday and Wednesday, to 3 am on Thursday, and until 4 am (for those late, late nighters) on Friday and Saturday.
