What is the history of Fort Walton Beach?

The “mound builders” were native to the area before Europeans came to the area. The first were Spaniards and later on, John Andersen became one of the first people who settled on a plot of land near Fort Walton Beach in 1838. Before being referred to as Fort Walton Beach, this place had several name changes, including Andersen and Camp Walton. Although founded in 1937, the town was officially established in 1953 and the name would be permanently known as it is today.

How is the weather in Fort Walton Beach?

Because of its in the region of Choctawhatchee Bay, the climate of Fort Walton Beach is warm and humid. During the spring, from February to the latter part of May, the weather is generally warm. It is hot and rainy between the summer months of late May to the middle of September. Fall and winter months are usually comfortable and mild. Snow and ice are extremely rare in this area.

It became famous as the place that The Truman Show was filmed. Seaside is located on Florida’s Panhandle and is considered environmentally friendly because of its carefully constructed design. It has plenty of space for people to walk or cycle throughout the town. The architectural buildings and structures of the town is renown in the U.S. Seaside is definitely picturesque. On Saturday mornings, cooking classes and demonstrations pertaining to gardening are held at the Farmers Market. While there, people can browse the local products including fresh produce and bakery items. Also, there are art galleries to explore and various places to indulge your palate. Pensacola is another vacation spot that individuals can travel to within an hour. Once there, they can take the Pensacola Hop-on Hop-off Tour. It is a real treat for those who have never been to Pensacola. The guide takes people on a journey through the old historical neighborhood and other unique landmarks.
