Summers in Lorain are bright and hot, perfect weather for getting out on Lake Erie. Expect temperatures in the low 80s and upper 60s at night. Winters are chilly as cold, wet air blows in from Erie. The average daytime temperature creeps above freezing while nights hit the low 20s.

Lorain doesn’t have a major airport, the closest is in Cleveland. However, there's a robust network of public transportation options available. These include bus routes as well as Greyhound service. If you own a boat, a number of attractive lakeside marinas are clustered at the mouth of the Black River.

The major roads into town include Highways 6 and 57. Highway 6 runs East-West, parallel to the coast. Take Highway 57 south for a few miles and you hit Interstate 90. Because of the proximity to Cleveland, you may hit morning traffic heading East and afternoon crowds going home West.
