What is the history of Sunnyside?

"Sunnyside actually has the same name as it had when it was first officially christened back in 1713. In that year, French Huguenots purchased the land and named their estate ""Sunnyside Hill"". Back then, it was a rural hamlet consisting of farms and marshland. It remained that way for nearly two centuries, until the completion of the Queensboro Bridge in 1909. After that, the grasslands in Sunnyside were all quickly transformed into residential and small business districts. In fact, some of the apartments in Sunnyside, NY were first constructed during this early era of growth and development.á"
