Located in proximity to Northwestern University is Grosse Point Lighthouse. Situated on a beautiful beach, many tourists visit this area to enjoy the view from inside the lighthouse as well as the outside while strolling across the sands or observing families hanging out in the children's play area at the nearby park. Nicknamed the Wrigley's Field for college football, Ryan's Field is a stadium that opened in 1926 and sits 47, 130 people. Considered small by today's standards, it was regarded as grand, back in the day. Visitors love to flock to the field, to enjoy the food and experience nostalgia.

What is there to do around Evanston?

The KANSAKU Contemporary Sushi & Sake Lounge is a modern sushi restaurant with chicken teriyaki, edamame and steak wrapped asparagus and maki bento box with black rice as part of its menu. Many people like its laid-back setting. Mitchell Museum of the American Indian is a place the young and the young-at-heart can learn about the Natives, in a hand-on way. With more than 10,000 artifacts and artwork including beads, baskets and rugs, this quiet museum have a friendly staff that are personal with those who visit the place.

Evanston Art & Big Fork Festival is a three-day event where local artists join artisans from the surrounding areas to show and sell their various works of art. Artwork is judged in multiple categories including glass, metal, watercolor and ceramic. Local business provides food and beverages throughout the occasion. The Green Living Festival is a time when local organizations and businesses get together to highlight their offering for how to make people's lives more sustainable. Throughout the day, there are exhibits and activities for children as well as food and drinks provided by local vendors.

Where are the nearby vacation spots?

With Chicago just approximately 12 miles away, you have everything you need for a great getaway. There are so many places to discover including museums, unique shops and numerous eating places offering cuisine from around the world. Less than one mile from Evanston, lies the village of Skokie, the recent winner of the Gold Medal for Excellence award for having such lovely parks and recreational spaces. One of those places is the sculpture garden featuring more than 70 figures. A guided tour is available between May and October.
