KLGV-LD, which is a TBN affiliate, is the only television station in Longview. The Longview News-Journal is the main newspaper in town, and people can also subscribe to the East Texas Review and El Diario de Harrison County. There's a good selection of radio stations in Longview. There are two country music stations, an oldies station, a classic Top 40 hits station, and Catholic and Christian stations on the FM dial. The Gregg County Historical Museum is located in a former town bank that was built around 1910. Lear Park is a huge regional outdoor sports complex on the west side of town. A new 92-acre park is being built at Lake Lomond, on the west side of Longview.

While Longview may be considered a smaller town, it certainly doesn't lack in amenities. The abundance of shopping and dining options rival those found in larger cities, offering a delightful array of choices for every taste and preference. The Great Texas Balloon Race is one of the biggest events of the year in Longview. It draws competitive balloon racers from around the world for several days of amazing races. The event is even fun to watch from the ground. Downtown Live happens every spring and fall, when people can bring a lawn chair and free Friday night concerts at Heritage Plaza. The Community Christmas Tree lighting ceremony happens each year in November and a big Christmas parade happens downtown in early December. The Wine Swirl happens downtown every spring, when a block is cordoned off downtown for people to sample wines from all the local wineries.

Where are the nearby vacation spots?

Carthage, TX is about an hour southeast of Longview. The town is home to the Tex Ritter Museum and the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame, which are both worth a visit for country music fans. Driving southwest to Jacksonville, visitors can enjoy the Cherokee Trace Drive-Thru Safari, which has some rare animals that aren't normally found in zoos. Rodeo fans can head south to Nacogdoches every March to enjoy the Nacogdoches Pro Rodeo. Mardi Gras in New Orleans is just a six-hour drive from Longview.

Where is the best place to move in Longview?

One of the best places to look for apartments in Longview is near the north end of Loop 281, near the shopping district. This area is extremely convenient for most of the town's major stores, shops and Longview Regional Medical Center. There are also some outdoor parks, a golf course and many apartments are within walking distance of Longview High School. Being close to Loop 281 also makes it convenient to commute or take the bus to many other parts of Longview for work.
