Springfield is the third largest city in Missouri. It is a commercial center and acts as the gateway to the Ozark Mountains. It is an important agricultural center that has been rapidly growing and strengthening the national economy over the years. In 1821 Missouri became a state. In February 1830, two brothers from Tennessee took up to 160 acres of land and one of them built a cabin that would later be Springfield.
