Though severe weather and thunderstorms are common during the spring and early months of summer, fall and winter tend to be more mild. For longer trips, residents can either catch a Greyhound bus downtown, or grab a plane out of the Tulsa International Airport, just 9 miles northeast of downtown. The Broken Arrow Expressway overlaps with Highway 51 and connects the southeastern areas of the region with downtown.
